Who should get the most starts at third base?

Bruntlett: 32 games, .248 Avg., 2 HR's, 14 Runs, 12 RBI's

Dobbs: 34 games, .320 Avg., 2 HR's, 6 Runs, 11 RBI's

Feliz: 38 games, .240 Avg., 5 HR's, 11 Runs, 16 RBI's

Going by just the numbers posted, I have to vote Dobbs.

However, I'm really only voting because your Avatar hypnotized me.

Eric Bruntlett for sure, he seems to hit great in the clutch so far this season,

The Phillies need defense so I voted for Pedro Feliz plus he can hit the long ball. Greg Dobbs and Eric Bruntlett are backup players any their numbers are distorted. If they were to play everyday their averages would go way down. GO Phillies and Flyers !

If your going by "just the numbers" look at Pedro's career statistics and compare.  This guy will hit over 20 homers and drive in about 85 runs.  Bank on it..this will be an average year for him and it still is far better than the third base crew from the past two years.  Dobbs is good coming off the bench and Bruntlett needs to stay on the pine and spell Rollins once every two months.

Boom.

I agree, we signed Feliz more so for his defense but he does have pop in his bat...I vote Feliz...

Bruntlett does get some clutch hits, but overall he is just an awful player.  I don't even want him on the bench.  I don't think their needs to be one overall pick for 3rd base, Charlie should just ride the hotter bat between Feliz and Dobbs.  Dobbs is probably the better overall hitter, but Feliz is a great fielder and has a little more pop.  Plus Dobbs is better coming off the bench than Feliz is.  All in all, I don't really think it matters who starts at 3rd as long as his name is Eric.

therev.. I think you mean, as long as his name isn't Eric, perhaps?

First, one "stat" that was used was "games", when instead you should use At Bats. Games only tell how many they got in, even if it was just as a pinch hitter, pinch runner, or defensive replacement.. it doesn't tell a whole lot. AB's lets ya know how much they've actually done something at the plate. Second, Bruntlett shouldn't even be included with this, he is not a 3rd baseman. In his career, he's had 293 games played on defense.. number of career starts at 3rd base: ONE. Total chances at 3rd: 8. You may as well stick Pat Burrell at 3rd.

BlueBell is correct in saying some numbers are a bit misleading because they don't get in enough.. although Bruntlett has seen plenty of action so far with filling in for J-Roll (but that's SS, not 3rd), plus some bench AB's. But Dobbs is almost strictly a bench guy, with only a rare start now and then. Feliz has 125 ABs, Bruntlett 109, and Dobbs 50. Not saying Dobbs wouldn't still hit good if he saw more action, but he's really better off in the role that he has. He got a lot of work last year, with 78 total starts, as well as being one of the best pinch hitters in the league, total of 324 ABs, and managed a .272 avg. (far off the .320 he's at now). Granted, his numbers are still better than Feliz, but I think Pedro will improve on his numbers from the past, eventually, now that he's hitting at CBP for half the season, and not that big stadium in SF. And his numbers will be satisfactory from what you need from 3rd base, given the offense of the rest of the line-up. Plus he's better overall at defense.

Another determining factor in all of this:

Pedro Feliz: 9th year (about his 5th straight as an everyday player), 537 career starts at 3rd, salary: $3 Million.

Greg Dobbs: 5th year (never an everyday player, saw most action last year), 78 career starts at 3rd, salary: $440,000.

Eric Bruntlett: 6th year (never an everyday player, he's only 30 ABs away from setting a career high in ABs already), 1 career start at 3rd, salary: $600,000 (how he's even making that much, given his limited experience in past years, is beyond me).

it really shouldnt be any question... just look at Pedro Feliz an when he was with the Giants.. he was averaging around 20 HRS for the past 3 seasons, at a pitchers park. Now he is at citenz bank park, which is def. a hitters park. Plus he is aslo defense skills should also be recognized.

I have to go with Feliz. He is here for his defense and his glove. Dobbs plays better as a bench player and Bruntlett plays better in the middle infield (let's hope he doesn't have to anymore). Feliz will be fine and will turn out to be a good signing. With this rotation that they are sending out now, the Phillies need all the defense they can get. Kendrick and Moyer are getting shelled every game (even games they win) and Myers is pitching like his is hurt but isn't telling anyone.

It still has to be Feliz....he has always been streaky and when he gets hot, he'll start hitting a whole lot out of CBP
