Tigers keep reloading
Sources with knowledge of the situation have told CBSSports.com that Calipari is considering completing his staff -- now missing Derek Kellogg (new head coach at UMass) and Chuck Martin (new head coach at Marist) -- by hiring from a group of candidates that is headlined by Pittsburgh assistant Orlando Antigua and Georgetown assistant David Cox. If Calipari gets his way, one of those two will likely join John Robic and Josh Pastner on the Memphis bench next season.

They can't have Mike Hopkins, he's succeeding Boeheim.

Hopkins wouldnt leave for Memphis anyway, but if he did wouldnt that make the game we have with them this season a lot more appealing.

You never know who might leave for Memphis.  Word is Memphis is paying the highest salaries for assistants in the country.  But if Hopkins is the successor at Syracuse he'd be better off staying.  I hear Pastner is the next guy at Arizona but he's coming to Memphis.  Cal is one of those coaches who thinks that it's a positive when his assistants leave for head coaching jobs.  Another way to get great assistants.

Arizona better find somebody quick. You never know, this year could be his last year coaching.

I just don't buy Antigua making a parallel movement, especially from his alma mater.

A parallel move is a matter of perspective.  Might be a few reasons somebody might want to work for Calipari.  One is the pay is going to be higher.  The cost of living in Memphis is drastically lower than anywhere near DC.  There is a growing list of assistants moving from Cal's staff to their own head coaching opportunities.  Plus the motto of a true leader that goes something like this.....and Cal believes this one.

The greatest reward a leader can achieve...... the greatest legacy a leader can leave.... is a group of talented, self confidant and cooperative people..... who themselves.....are ready to lead.

Antigua coaches at Pitt, they were the only school to offer him a scholarship after he was shot in the head as a high school student, and let me tell you this, the SOL is about the same in Pittsburgh and Memphis.
