Now this pisses me off....

I dont know if anyone noticed this on the main Padres page for CBS but this is a "rumor" that was posted today:

Greg Maddux has too much to offer and too little time left to be stuck pitching for the Padres at this point in his career. The San Diego Union-Tribune speculates he can still help somebody chase a pennant and there's a deal to be made for the pitcher who finally earned his 350th career victory. Everybody needs pitching. "Somebody wants him," Padres ace Jake Peavy said. "It sucks that this is probably the last year of his career and he's got to sit here and be a part of this and have (this be) the last thing he remembers in baseball -- if this thing doesn't turn." Well, It would be easy for me to say Jake Peavy just slipped up. Or that he might have been mis-quoted. Or that we all have to remember he was educated in Alabama....

I know the truth is...I've said stuff I regretted later too.

And, In some ways I kind of agree with his assesment. Watching Greg Maddux on the bench during the Cubs debacle, I think he appears to be content and not worried about moving on, or staying with the Padres. He's as classy an individual as he is a classic pitcher.
