I think Kevin Durant is going to be a Rashard Lewis type player, not special but a borderline all star. He's got to get stronger or develop his shot even farther to become a more dependable scorer. Shooting 43% from the field, including 29% on 3's, is not going to cut it if he's going to be a go-to scorer. He's not a great passer or rebounder either.
He's got ways to go to develop into the player people thought he was coming out of college.
Al Horford is already a 10 rebound a night type player. He's a Drew Gooden type player (solid player), but his ceiling is closer to Carlos Boozer. If he can develop a go-to move and a mid range jump shot, he could be a borderline all star as well.
If I needed a power forward I'd take Horford, if I needed a small forward I'd take Durant. The Sonics needed a scorer, and Durant gave them 20 a night. The Hawks needed a rebounder, and Hoford gave them 10 a night. They were both very valuable to their teams.
