Move on over Boston the D-Rays have taken first! I don't mean to brag, but this is the first time I have been able to say this, and I don't know how long it will last. Good luck Boston. GO RAYS!
I won't be disparaging towards the lead post here but.....after the Rays swept the Sox in the first series this year there were Rays fans coming out of the wood work to talk $hit then no where to be found a week later when the Sox returned the favor.
In all honesty, good luck to the Rays. Real good pitching staff and great blend of hitting and speed. Not to mention the farm system. I have a few friends who are Mets fans that are still complaining about losing Kazmir (I always have a good laugh about that Zambrano trade).
I hope the Rays are there at the end of the year b/c that means no Yankees.
Let's see how long their "young" pitching can last. Young pitchers tend to tire in late August due to the amount of innings pitched over the season. Most of their staff has never pitched over 200 innings before.
It's a nice story to start off the season, but I wouldn't be clearing off the calendar in October just yet, if I were a Tampa fan....
Well, you have a right to be proud. They are doing well but can they keep it up? Yes, the Redsox have slipped down but I don't believe it will stay that way. They have had alot of injuries and their manager left for funeral arrangements for his mother-in-law. Clay Buckholtz played with a busted fingernail which was stupid. He should have told someone. So they've had some trials to bear of late.
Also, the Redsox are known for coming out on top in the last half of the season. It's a long season and it's anyone's game. I truly wish the Rays alot of luck but I do believe the Redsox will rise again and before this is all over they will be champs once again.
You "don't mean to brag" , yet here you are... bragging...
Its ok, I don't blame you one bit. I actually have found myself rooting for the Rays when they aren't playing against the Red Sox, and as another poster said I too would like them to be there at the end of the year because I'd much rather have Tampa over the Yankees.
I am surprised by how well the Rays young pitching has held up, we all know Scott Kazmir is good (when healthy) and expected James Shields to have another solid year; but Edwin Jackson? Andy Sonnastine? one of the top bullpens in MLB? Definitely wouldn't have predicted that. If Kazmir can stay healthy I think you guys can stay right near the top of the division, but you really need Carlos Pena to start hitting the ball again, he is the only one in that lineup that is really a big power threat. Best of luck.
Ya, the Rays are good this year, and the Orioles, and the Ravens, all the teams in our league are good! We will have to fight more than ever this year.
The thing I'm hoping for is that the Yankees don't make it this year
LoL I was wondering why you said Ravens hahaha Well, that clears that up! It's very easy to confooze me LoL. I have blonde roots! :)
Anyway, I would love to see the Red Sox and the Rays play again to break the sweeping tie. They swept us but then we swept them back so another series with them would be nice to see!! As for the yanks, Bah Humbug!! I ain't concerned about them. To be concerned would be to admit they are a good team and I'm not about to do that!! They are falling down on the list fast and I'm watching with tremendous glee.
We beat the Brewers in the first game of the double header. Let's see if they can keep it up for the second.
