Steeler Nation,

I have been a die-hard Steeler fan ever since I was a little kid reading watching Rod Woodson in my puffy starter jacket.  I live in California with three roommates and still keep a giant Steelers flag up in the living room (too bad for them I am the main tennant on the lease!)

I have been to a ton of Steelers games, including Indy for the Super Bowl run, but I (finally) have my first trip to the Burgh in November for the game against the Chargers (there will be a charger fan in the group, but I will be sure to punch him in the face upon request)

Anyway, I am looking for suggestions for the visit.  I have a room booked at the Hampton Inn near the Strip and I believe the original Primanti's where I plan on eating twice a day.  Should I move somewhere else/closer?

Anyway, I have 3 days and nights to fill up with the best of Pittsburgh and our fans.  I will do something cultural only out of necessity.  I appreciate all suggestions and look forward to partying with you guys before and after a Stiller's win.  Yoi!

Also, I don't have tickets yet?  Any suggestions on where to get them and where to sit?  Does it matter?  Thanks again

Dining:

Teseros = great burgers, grilled chicken, clam chowder.  Probably still my favorite place in the burgh.

Aellos = great pizza

Primanti = you know i assume

The Original (The O) = great hot dogs and fries.

Quaker Steak and Lube = great wings (my fav are LA lickers)

Point Bruge = on the expensive side but great bistro food.  Mac and cheese is killer and the mussels are great.

Dodgeshow,

If its your first trip to Pittsburgh you definately have to go to Mt. Washington.  Its an overlook area where you can see downtown Pittsburgh.  Its even better at night.  Not much going on in the Strip anymore.  If you want to go out at night go to the Southside.  There are about 50 bars on the main road.  They range from little local bars to nightclubs.  If you can get a hotel in Station Square it would be better.  You can take the incline to Mt Washington and Southside is only a couple minutes away.  You can also take a boat ride accross the river to the stadium for the game.

On Game Day, go to Peppi's for your pre-game meal. Huge sandwiches -- many of a cheesesteak style -- named after Steelers players. The Big Heath is a personal favorite. I know this might sound like sacrilidge, but I like them better than Primanti Brothers.

Make sure you have an Iron City beer. Rolling Rock is now owned by one of the big corporations and brewed in New Jersey. NEW JERSEY -- ugh! HighTops is a good sports Bar down near the stadiums -- it's on the PNC Park side.

On tickets, I'd start hitting the boards -- Craig's List, StubHub, etc. -- now because the game against San Diego could be big!

Stay at the Sheraton in Station Square, eat at Bucca and catch the boats over for the game. I live in Texas and go twice a year, probably going to be there for that game and Dallas game. Station square has the best Steelers merchandise store around.

Thanks everyone for the Pittsburgh love.  I honestly can't wait to get out there.

I might just have to stay out 4 more days and go Thursday night against the Bungles.

If you see something missing I have got to do, throw it out there.  I will hopefully get to buy you a beer in appreciation.

If the price is right I can sell you two seats 10 rows from the field.

Thanks for the ticket offer.  I am trying to buy either 5 or 6 together if possible.  There are some available, I just want awesome seats to make this game the highlight of my year.

Anyway, thanks again for advice all.  I think I have all my meals covered.  I will try and move over to the South Side.

Another question is who to make my next Steeler jersey.  I love my Bettis and Woodson and actually my Porter (you know he still wants to be there).  I am leaning Heath.  Maybe Hampton or Troy?  Ben?  FWP?  Tough call.
