I am sorry fellow Cubs fans but I can't for the life of me understand how so many of you are ok with signing of Jim Edmonds.  I, as a Cubs fan naturally draw rivalries such as the White Sox, the Brewers, and most of all the Cardinals.  These are teams that for me make baseball more fun for me because I love to hate them.  On those respective teams that I hate, are certain players that I absolutly despise.  On the Cardinal the last 10 years or so some of them include Matt Morris, Jim Edmonds, Albert Pujols, Steve Kline, ect.  These are guys of whom it is totally uneceptable being on my favorite team.  I didn't mind signing Marquis so much only because Cardinal fans disowned him, or John Maybry for that matter, but this I just can't handle.

If it dosn't matter who is on your team and you will like anyone your team goes out and buys then go root for the Yankees.  Can anyone explain to me how you can be a Cubs fan and not hate Edmonds?  I really don't get it?

Also, this is all despite the fact that Edmonds' average and OBP have declined in each of the last four seasons and I really don't think he is even better than Felix Pie.

Someone please explain all of this to me.

Dont worry too much about it. I hate the signing too, but i dont see Old @ss, washed up clubhouse cancer boy being around for more than a month if he continues at the pace he's on. Look at the bright side, BigZ needs somebody to slap around, why not let it be mascara boy???

I don't care who they sign, as long as they win.  Cubs fans lost their right to be picky a long time ago.

"I dont care who they sign, as long as they win."

Cubfan3542, while i totally agree with your statement, i just dont see how this move improves the Cubs at all. If anything, it could come back to haunt them in a negative way. How??? Rumors are already floating around that Edmonds was becoming a big clubhouse cancer in SD and that played a huge role into him getting released. I read that in the suntimes today.

he was dropped by a LAST place team.....and now ppl think he can start for the cubs....

GIVE ME A BREAK......if he is at thursdays game....i will boo as much as possible....

Thank you swifty.  And to Cubsfan if you don't care at all about player personel and don't really have a like or dislike  of any player in the league then go be a Yankees fan.  They win.

i don't get what the Cubs are thinking.its a low risk move and a win now approach to center field... i HATE to watch a kid like Pie sit on the bench... he needs to play everyday and take a different approach to the plate... this gives options with Pie:

1. Trade him
2. Call him up when the late season roster expansion is underway
3. Give him his shot at the starting role next season

I cant imagine he was signed for more than a year at not much more than a million or two (pocket change to the cubs) so if he's a cancer in the club house or really blows or Pie somehow turns a corner, then we drop him.

I mean traditionally beetz.  Also, the Cubs' objective in not to make Pie into a superstar it is to win ballgames.  And right not Pie playing only a few time a week is a better player than Edmonds.  But that is not the poin
