I like McGahee's potential this year. The Ravens' young line has another year of experience, Willis is only 26 years old, he's starting his "actual" 5th season since he didn't play as a rookie and had the most receiving yards in his career last year. I think he's maturing and diversifying as a back and like you, Z1721, I look forward to watching him this year.
Go Ravens!!!

I expect McGahee to have a decent season. But the O-line has to play well and the QB has to be efficient so defenses don't stack the line. If Harbaugh and Cameron can come up with an offense that is more creative than the one we've grown tired of, then defenses will play on their heels and McGahee can shine. And with Rice and Ross available to spell him at times, he should be productive all year.

I'll tell you what guys. I'm considering taking McGahee in the first round of my fantasy draft this year. He's always been a second round pick up for me before this year just sounds too good. I'm afraid if I pass on him in the first I'll miss the boat on him this year and just got this feeling (baring injury) that he's going to have a career year. Exciting ain't it? Go Ravens!

Maybe. I think he will have at least 1300 yards anyway. But i think our #2 back Ray Rice will be more involved in the running game as well. I think Cam can do ALOT with him. If McGahee had the same run blocking as LT, i have no doubt that McGahee could put up similar stats if not better and record breaking considering how he performed behind a bunch of rookies. If Jamal Lewis had to run behind them he would barely get like 900 yards, not to mention a terrible ypc. McGahee really proved something last season, what a fantastic pickup for us.

justify,
Willis McGahee had a great year behind an O-Line still learning and with no QB or WR threat. A healthy Todd Heap adds something we didn't have last year.
If the Ravens can get the passing offense going, just enough to take the pressure off the running game, I look for big numbers from both Willis and Ray Rice.
If the Ravens can stay healthy, they have the weapons to be a threat. Maybe try and use the speed of Yamon Figurs at WR. The new kid they got out of Notre Dame, Tom Zbikowski, could be used on punt returns. From what I have seen of him, he was pretty damn good. Just some thoughts.
Peace

Im not so sure, I have a feeling with the probably loss of Ogden that the line is going to collapse on all sides.

But at the moment Ogden isn't retired. He may still be thinking about playing.

Willis McGahee has to worry about Willis. This is the true thing stopping him from being the elite back used in the same breath as LT. He could always be in alot better shape year around. He was sucking air and need breathers more than his fair share of times after long runs. I think if he were in tip top shape, you could see that extra yard here and there to push his YPC well into the 4 territory and not on the fringe. It means the difference of a 100 yards over the season.
The line is huge and athletic and run blocking was never the issue last season. Willis is a year longer with the team and he will start to read the lineman alot easier which means that he will hit the hole a fraction quicker. It is the difference between a 2 yard gain and a 4 yard gain sometimes. Losing Jonathan Ogden is going to effect the pass blocking alot more than run blocking. The LT is a seal blocker over a pass rushing DE or a chip blocker and attacks the OLB to seal on most plays. It is much more crucial to know that Jason Brown may not be at Guard and might be the next center. The LG is going to have to be the main player when it comes to run blocking on traps, pulls, or chip and seals on the MLB/DT. Jared Gaither is big, quick and a heck of alot stronger from my accounts through Media that I have talked too. Marshall Yanda Ben Grubbs were looking strong at Guard, both look noticable leaner around the waist and bigger through the chest and arms (both good things to hear).
I am worried about the line in terms of pass protection. It takes alot longer for guys to work as a unit to pick up the blitzes, stunts, rolls, etc.... I think the only issues facing Willis are the ones that could be curbbed during the off-season. Staying lean, staying agile, getting hungry.....
