Red Soxs' Lester was pulled last night after 6 innings, 5 hits, 2 runs and only 86 pitches against the O's. They should have let him at least start the 7th, in my view. All too often, managers these days don't let their starters even reach the 100 pitch leve. Not the case in past times.
Anyone else notice that both Girardi and Willie pulled their starting pitchers after 6+ innings in the 7th at the same exact time. I had both games on (one in picture-in-picture).....it was odd.
I don't mind Girardi having a short string with Mussina. Had he lifed Moose and replaced him with Chamberlain against the Red Sox a while back with Manny at the plate that would have been a different game. Up to that point Mussina had pitched VERY well. But an 82MPH fastball to Manny doesn't get it done.
6 strong innings from Mussina now-a-days is a dream come true... a dream Mike has answered five times in a row!
I started a second job....bartending on a dinner cruise ship....my day job allows me to pretty much be here all the time but that one....not so much....Gonna miss a lot of baseball this summer, unfortunately (wasting my MLB.tv package)but I should make some nice bank....
And pick up on some overly entoxicated, recently divorced, love starved soccer moms just looking for a good time.
