Pat Kirwan just posted an interesting article on the www.nfl.com website.  I believe it is entitled "Super-Sized" or something like that.

It is about offenses reverting to the power running game to take advantage of the current trend of smaller, quicker defenses, including two (blocking) tightend sets, big lineman, a bruising fullback and power running back.  I thought he was talking about the Chiefs as I read although he reveals later in the article that he was thinking of the Dolphins

well i think thee success of Tony Richardson, Lorenzo Neal, and whoever else there maybe a sblocking full backs. their success of their tailbacks has probably done aot of that. think of the runners they hvae lead for recently. preist holmes, Larry Johnson, Chester Taylor hd a big year, Adrian Peterson, and obviously LaDainian Tomlinson.

I think this is the direction we are headed, but we still need to find out who our "bruising" fullback will be!  We also need to figure out how our big linemen will pick up the blocks.

Chan is a run run man, but he also loves to stretch the field, so if we can get protection it should feed right in to Brodie's arm strength. given  he makes good decisions!

Right now, they have

Oliver Hoyte, 6-3, 252

Chris Manderino, 6-0, 231

Mike Cox, 6-0, 252

Stephen Jackson, 6-2, 246

Mike Cox seems to be the biggest and appears to be a great receiver out of the backfield.  Gailey coached him at G-tech.

Herman Edwards is going to make us be that power run team no matter what or who we bring in. He did it last season without a true fullback. The difference between last season and this season should be the way in which Chan Gailey mixes things up a bit. If Chan becomes as predictable as Solari was, it definitely isn't going to work! I do however like the ideal of a power run team that isn't afraid and has the ability to go deep on more than one occassion!

Chiefs in 08!
