OK I'm glad that Darrell Rasner has suprised everybody and that Mussina is pitching great, but the Yankees don't have a legitimate no. 5 starter right now. It's the only hole in the rotation. Kennedy is pitching awful, Hughes is hurt and sucked before he got hurt. Where is our legit no. 5 guy? Igawa is worse than Kennedy. I wouldn't mind us signing Boomer I don't care if he's mediocre Kennedy and Hughes aren't ready yet and Boomer would be an ok no. 5.  As long as we aren't leaning on him to be an ace-ish pitcher, he won't be a disappointment. Once you get to postseason you can have 4-man rotation we just need a guy to pitch in the back of the rotation to help get us through the regular season.

Until Phil Hughes comes back, they'll just have to use Ian Kennedy as the number 5 guy. Once Hughes is back, he'll be the number 4, and probably Rasner at the 5. I know that Hughes struggled earlier this year, but he's a good pitcher, not like Kennedy. I think that once healthy he'll be a legitimate , making Rasner a decent 5. Kennedy and Igawa can both be brought out back of the stadium and shot for all I care. They are both huge disappointments without much upside, espcially Kei Igawa.

As for Boomer, I wouldn't mind giving him a shot, but that's about it. However, the way things have been I'll take just about anybody at the back-end of this rotation. Bring David Cone out of the booth... He's got to be better then what we've seen so far.

look the Yankees need something and quick.  We have two veterans who need to take the youngsters and help them understand that it is not how hard you throw every time it is where you throw every time that metters.  Accuracy then speed.  It is something that has paid off for years and needs to start paying off now.  I am ashamed of the bullpen from the starters to the relievers.  They all need to pay attention to what the heel is going on.  Take a page from the Rockies of last year and the Yankees of the mid 90's:  HAVE FUN and stay loose.  It is a very hard thing to do in NYC especially with Hank all over you like a cheap suit.

Has anyone seen this kid from Japan?  He is what the Yankees need next year.  Shell out the money now and just get ready to sign him before Boston does.

Yea I heard about the kid from Japan. His name is Yu Darvish.  He has nasty stuff. I'm sure the Yankees will do everything they need to get him. only one problem he isn't expected to leave Japan until after the 2009 season or possibly even the 2010 season. He is only 21 though so best case scenario we/somebody else get him at around 23.

Rich Harden would be great. I'd love to dump some prospects on the A's and get this flamethrower. Kevin Millwood would be cheaper. Daniel Cabrera is just starting to show signs of something there with him.

Enough of this "develop players" philosophy. I want Harden and a RH bat, too. Call me stupid. Call me selfish.

But that's what I want in Pinstripes by the end of July.

I've seen Yu Darvish- he's the real deal. He's got everything you could want. The Yankees absolutely MUST sign him. And also get CC Sabathia and Mark Teixeira. and Rich Harden would be relatively cheap. Just a bunch of cruddy prospects.

Adding a free agent pitcher or bringing up another not ready prospect this year is fruitless.  Your rotation? for lack of a better word is simply one turd you cannot polish. That smell in the air is your beloved Yankees stinking up the joint in last place

I like the idea of CC but the Braves are not going to give up Teixeria.  Harden would be nice but I still need to see something special out of him this year before jumping on that boat.  Trade Farnsworthless and  keep Mo.  We brought over homeboy from the Rockies and he has not done squat at all.  Hell even go after Ankeil from StL and give them Melky.  Sounds fair to me.  I just beleive that Rick can handle the outfeilf better and be a better top of the order guy in front of Jeter.  His energy is just what the Yankees need in the clubhouse.  Trevor Hoffman would even be a great set up man for MO.  If Mo is not feeling it you could even rotate the two of them between the setup and closer roles.

I would trade matsui for Mark Teixeira (*plus some prospects maybe) and cash in either Matt Holliday or Rick Ankiel for maybe shelley and gonzales...it is rumored that the Yankees are going to put everything on the table for cc next season (when he becomes a FA) so there-s no need to hurry for him now...then to solve the pitching problem I would trade for harden, hughes is going to be just fine and so i would trade another guy..maybe jeff karsterns..

Right now, our biggest problem is our lineup. It seems like every game we play we only score two runs! Now yes, Kennedy hasn't been good, and Igawa just sucked, but think about it. Ian could of given up 3 runs last night and we still would of lost. I would give Wells a 'chance', but his age just scares me. Right now, the problem i have is with Giambi. This guy isn't really anything but average anymore. And i wouldn't trade for Tex because we would have to give alot, and we can just get him in next year's free agency.

Last year we were 20-28 though, so don't panic yet.
