I agree Mega, that has to suck. T-Jack is being dissected on every play he makes, which isn't to say that shouldn't happen. but then he gets all this harsh response. I'm not really a fan of T-Jack, but I am of the Vikings, and I trust their decisions (even when I may disagree) because I'm not in a position to make those decisions. but I do think that if T-Jack struggles this year, it's Gus, with Booty being pushed a lil faster into his progression.

10kLakes thank you for having an OPEN MIND sure T-Jack needs poise as a qb and i think Gus Frerotte will help the polish that JDB has i hope some of that polish rubs off of JDB and on to T-Jack because he needs it BAD! i just don't understand the mentalily of lets throw T-Jack under the bus if he has a bad year then cut him and be done with it

I'm just in the same boat as you are when it comes to talent, MEGA, look, every sport has that one prospect we all expect to become that future HOF'er, and in some cases, it looks like it'll happen, but there's more cases where it doesn't. So to say a guy isn't ready, or isn't improving after he goes 8 - 4 as a starter (yes, I know, regurgitated stat) but still, it's there, it's known, and it does show that T-Jack, while I'm not the biggest fan of his, I'm still not going to " throw him under the bus " per say till he shows me that he isn't improving, and from what I saw, and from what the stat sheets read, T-Jack improved. period. whether it was a big improvement, small improvement, improvement that only the coaching staff notices that fans don't, like say, the time T-Jack and other young QB's getting dissected right now spend on watching game film of themselves, critiquing their play. He's at least made strides, all we can do as fans is dissect, talk trash about, give compliments about, T-Jack's play on the field, but I'm still happy with what we got, we could be worse off. We could be in a Dolphin's situation (sorry Miami, but you yourselves can't tell me you foresee instant success even with Tuna calling shots)

But I will say this, with our defense, and tandem backfield, T-Jack should be able to keep us in playoff contention, if he doesn't, then my mind may change to seeing someone else, but even then I may not, cause who knows, maybe we get to the playoffs with T-Jack, and we blow it on a play that doesn't involve him more than handing a ball off. Do we then start to dissect AP, and start blogging about how we should let him sit a little bit, rest up, etc etc etc ? when does it stop ?

Good post VikingsPwr! I really want to believe in T-Jack. Last year show some promise and I think this year he will improve even more. He has better receivers this year and a little more seasoning under his belt. People aren't going to be able to stack the box against the Vikings this year because they will have to respect the receivers a little bit more than they did last year. I say T-Jack will impress people this year, with both his passing and his running game.

Go Vikings!

Gentlemen , gentlemen . I find it interesting when I read and hear such diverse opinions regarding our very own Tarvaris Jackson . Wheter from fellow Vikings fans who love / hate TJ , or from those lesrned individuals who actually get paid to blather on about sports . At times , it's very amusing . I was listening to Sirius NFL  last sunday morning as I drove down to NC , adnthe two talking heads were ranking all 32 teams and giving their reasons why each team was given it's ranking . The first guy had the Vikings ranked at 15 with a bullet because of the addition of Jared Allen and Bernard Berrian , and the likely improvement of Sidney Rice , and of course , Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor . The " bullet " part come in with the performance of Tarvaris Jackson . Meaning , if he improves , obviously the ranking improves . If he doesn't , they stay at 15 , or head south . . . The second guy ( I had to call and take exception with this ) had the Vikings ranked at a miserable 24th !!! His entire rationale was that Tarvaris Jackson sucks and he sees no possibility of improvement , because he saw " a handfull of Vikings games last year " and didn't think there was any NFL caliber talent there .( I bet his handfull was likely 2 or 3 games .) Otherwise , he thought the Vikings were solid . The two of them were in obvious disagreement . I fall on the side of TJ improving and the Vikings having an excellent season . I do agree however , that the outcome of the season is contingent upon how well Jackson plays . Alot of pressure for a twenty-something young man to deal with . But , if you can't take the heat . . .

At any rate , TJ has a lot of company in those who need to step up for th Vikings to have a good year ; AD must learn to pass block . Jared Allen and the other DE's must generate a strong pass rush , and the DB'S MUST step up and take advantage of it . . . And lastly , the O-line must do a more effective job of pass blocking . A lot rests on TJ's shoulders , but he has lots of company .

MegaMan.....I think you have the wrong idea about what some of us were saying.  Well, what I was saying, anyway.  You see, I'm not jus now throwing Tarvaris Jackson under the bus because he had a less than stellar year last year.  I have been on the anti-TJack bandwagon since he was drafted.  Didn't like the pick then, like it even less now.  I have a reputation, up to this point, anyway, of being a staunch "hater"(if that's what you'd like to call it) of Tarvaris Jackson.  It's not so much that I'm a hater per-se, it's that he's never shown me anything to dissuade me of the belief that he is nothing more than(excuse me, I've used this phrase before, but I think it's effective) "Mike Vick minus dogs and talent".  Didn't see it in college, haven't seen it since. He could very well make a miraculous turnaround this year and convince me otherwise, but up to now, I've seen nothing of the contrary.  So, rest assured Mega, his poor showing last year is not why I'm throwing him under the bus.  My belief that he is a shitty quarterback is.
