Let's not even jinx this year. Don't make predictions. Anybody that's a true Cubs fan believes in superstition so just keep your hopes to yourselves. They are studly good though this year.

Did'nt Jim Edmonds just sign with the Cubs??......why so he can keep Carlos Zambranos seat warm when he is rather foolishly called on to pinch hit? Would you risk your ace in that situation he could get hit not even beaned broken finger maybe? Pulled hammy pilnello oughta think about it not worth it in my book

As far as there pitching will take them.  Win the division and lose the first round because they have no Number 1 or Number 2 type starter.  Then again..I have been known to write on the fly without knowing what the heck i'm talking about.

I will agree that the Cubs go as their ptching goes as it is with most teams....but no 1 or 2 is a tough assessment....Big Z is def a number one and former closer Dempster is making a heck of a case for a number two...

I trully hope this is the year, they are off to a great start.  The thing that scares me is they are living and dying by the big bat.  They have got to have some small ball to go with that when the homers aren't coming.

considering that the Cubs haven't won a WS in, well, forever. Wasn't it before WWI? HAHAHA. I mean, how can you even think of how they are going to do in May? you people are so desparate its pathetic.

The Cubs are legitimate contenders for the NL Central title, and anything short of that would be a major upset. This "curse" will have to come to an end eventually, just like the one with the Red Sox. Their team is probably the third best team, LEGITIMATELY (unlike the Marlins)

Desperate?  I hate to bash people on here, but you are a moron.  Yes, the Cubs haven't won a WS since 1908, but the question asked was how far could the Cubs go.  Well, every year the Cubs either had the pitching or the hitting, but never both.  This year it is coming to together.   Zambrano and Dempster (A huge surprise) are looking like maybe the most dominant 1-2 punch in baseball for starters.  How important is that?  Look at the D-Backs when they won the WS with Johnson and Schilling.   They have 8 players hovering around .300 and now Soriano is on a tear.  He always starts slow, but I got to believe that this latest stretch is indicative of why we signed him in the first place.  Hemay veyr well  belt 40+ homers this year.  I don't call it desparate, I call it an intelligent guess, hopeful  and confident that this is a very good team and their recent play is no fluke.  Afterall, they did sweep the DBacks.  Supposedly the best team in baseball.
