Rockie manager Clint Hurdle has asked Bud Black and Willie Randolph to be his coaches for the All-Star game at Yankee stadium. I thought that was kind of cool and what would be even better is the Rockies and the Padres started turning things around. Both of these teams are much better than they have shown so far.
I saw that this morning on MLB.com Is there some history between the Padres Buddy Black and the Rockies Clint Hurdle? Play together? Coach together? Cool for Willie Randolph to coach at the soon to be torn down Yankees stadium where he played for so many years.
Since Mr. Hurdle decided there are too many good talented first basemans out there, he would leave Adrian Gonzales off the roster and still have a Padre on the team, in Bud Black... J/k, although, that's the kind of season it's been so far.
Okay I did my homework and Clint Hurdle played with 226 different teammates in the pros and Bud Black was not among them. Hurdle spent 5 years with the Royals up to '81. Black played 6 years with the Royals starting in '82. So that along with the mutual respect in the NL west ?
Yep, I guess once a Royal always loyal! George Brett and Hurdle are still close and during the playoffs and WS last year Brett was Hurdle's guest at the games.
