Who would you like to start for the Bears in 2008?

As much nausea as his play has caused for me in the past year (and a half), I still voted for Rex Grossman. I think the Bears should start Grossman for the first few games and go from there. If he doesn't come out like a ball of fire, let his one-year deal fizzle out along with his tenure in Chicago. If Kyle Orton starts out the season, whether Orton plays well or not, what to do with Grossman will still be a giant question mark for the franchise, so let Grossman make or break himself early and stick with that.

Sounds familiar, I think they did that last year, and Grossman failed miserably. It's time to give the 6 foot 5 gunslinger an honest chance. And by honest I mean the chance (or chances) they have given grossman. Emphasis on the word "given"

Its not a queston of who is better, it is a question of who is worse. I can't believe the Bears didn't get a new QB in the off season.

I agree with you in giving Orton an honest chance at the job. Grossman has been given tons of mulligans and has yet to prove he's a worthy QB. I think Lovie has a crush on Rex because any other QB with his stats would be carrying a clipboard.
Orton was decent as an inexperienced rookie. He won most of his starts, then was benched after one bad game because the savior Rex returned from his case of skirtburn. Grossman then managed to keep the Bears from winning the Super Bowl by throwing the ball to the other teams cornerbacks. Orton was forced to play a predictable, slow-down offense in which his job was to hold on to the ball and let the defense win it. That was Lovie's bad call because Orton is a known gunslinger who scored at will in college. Orton may not dazzle, but he gets the job done.
My prediction: Lovie loves Rex, so he'll start the season and stick with him because Lovie's job/reputation will be on the line this year. Unfortunately, he'll go down with the Grossman ship. Orton will continue to grow his neck beard on the sidelines.

Anyone who thinks Orten will start is smart because as it said in the article his rookie season...keep in mind that was two seasons ago he had a decent year making the playoffs and managing the game well. Then fast forward to last season he wins another couple games after a one year sit on the bench learning the offense. This battle should have been over last season with Orten being the best decision. This team is not only a playoff team but a superbowl contender lacking a quarterback. I am the last person to point out the quarterback as the sole person for the blame but last season no team respected the pass so they could plant 8-9 guys in the box if they so chose leaving absolutely no running room for Cedric Benson. Don't get me wrong I think Benson is a slacker on the field and a whiner off the the field but I would like someone to point out a back who can run consistently well against 8 and 9 man fronts. Orten gives this team a guy who will cut down on turnovers, make good decisions, and a command of the offense. They drafted Chris Williams to start at left tackle meaning they have a better line and added Matt Fortay a guy who will add another talented running back to this rotation, they have the most dangerous return man in the history of the NFL, and a top ten defense. This team has no excuse for being a losing team. The quarteback play needs to take a step up and you could see another perenial playoff team. I have no doubt in my mind.
As for Miami they have 3 guys who are all talented and each bring their own best quality to the team. Sparano has the luxury of starting fresh with two young guys and a veteran all of starting quality competing for the most important position on the field. Keep in mind Beck isn't history just yet. Sparano took the job in January a mere 3 months before the draft, during those three months they cut Trent Green and lost Cleo Lemon. That left a void at quarterback. They needed a veteran either way so they got McCown who is still somewhat young but yet has experience as a starter with two different teams. They have John Beck a guy they didn't have much NFL tape on and who is unproven in this league and they saw Chad Henne who some scouts listed as the number 2 quarterback in the draft sitting there in the second round. They didn't draft Henne with the thought that Beck was a failure before he even started they drafted Henne because he was the 4th quarterback off the board at 57th spot. Keep in mind after Henne there was a drop off in quarterback talent, so much so the next quarterback didn't go until the 94th pick to the Patriots. Henne is way further along then O'Connel is and the Patriots aren't looking for a starter or even a back-up. O'Connel is a project for Belicheck, Henne is a competitor for the Phins. If you look at it in that way you see the Phins as being deep in talent at the quarterback position the first year of a new coach.

where is the 4th option...Does it really matter who is QB because they have no receivers to throw to.
I mean really, anyone of those guys that will be the QB has nothing to work with. 1st off the o-line still needs help. 2nd, the runnung game has to get a lot better & lets hope that Matt Forte does better then Benson has. & 3rd, the recievers suck. Booker hasnt done nothing in the past 5 years. B Lloyd almost drops as many passes as he catches. Bradley & Davis have never had more then 22 receptions in a season. Hester is not a good WR & should only be used as a returner before he gets hurt on offence. The other WRs are not even worth talking about. D Clack & Olsen are the only recievers that are worth anything.
Nobody should be complaining about why the Bears didnt draft a QB..... They should be complaining about why they didnt go out & get a good FA WR or a WR in the draft other than Earl Bennett. Get a true #1 WR on that team & Grossman or Orten could actually do pretty good...sorry but all of them WRs are #3 WRs at best & probably couldnt make many teams rosters as a #3WR. I feel sorry for whoever QBs the Bears this season because with the low talent at RB & WR makes the QB destined to fail this coming season.

Start Nick Hill! He is no worse than Grossman and Orton. Who knows, maybe the young gun will come out of no where and be awesome! He's going to be the third stringer but hey gotta try somethin when Grossman starts throwing jumpballs all over the field.

Again the Bears prove to be another organization out to take fans money.
Everyone knows they have no chance with either Grossman or Orton. The sooner they realize this the sooner they will see the playoffs again.
They addressed the RB position & WR positions in the draft.
They must now scavage a veteran QB off the bottom now that they have yet again waited too long.

As a Packer fan, I would LOVE to see Turnoveraurus Rex start for the Bears as long as possible. If I'm to answer the questions as though I want the Bears to win then Kyle Orton has gotta be the guy. He's nothing spectacular, but he doesn't make the game changing mistakes that Gross Rexman does.

Option one should have been to go out and get a guy, let Kyle Orton be his backup and send Rex Grossman to the unemployment line, but it's too late to get somebody.

It's kinda' funny.... Brett Favre is retired but the Packers still probably have 3 QBs that are at least as good as the Bear's starter, whoever that is. Matt Flynn, Brian Brohm and of course Aaron Rodgers.

I'm surprised how many people want Grossman to start. At the first interception, muffed snap, fumble, or some other error, the boo birds will descend on Soldier Field. Frankly, I was surprised at the one year contract.
