I think that odd man out in this debate would be Burke Badenhop.
Here is my thoughts on each guy:
First Andrew Miller- The team made some what of a big investmet in this kid based on the players they gave up to get him in Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera. Also, this kid is still young and was some what rushed in to the big leagues while with the Tigers, he has not pitched many games at the Double-A level or higher. But he has a great deal of talent and upside and we have seen flashes of it this season, though we have seen many flaws but in fairness it is to be expected. I think with more work this kid can and will get better, which is why the team has had and will continue to show patience in him.
Ricky Nolasco- As was the case last season, Nolasco is currently a starter due to injuries to key guys... otherwise he would be in the bullpen as a long reliever, a role of which I think he would thrive in and help the team. Nolasco was nagged by injuries to start the season which has contributed to his inconsistencies thus far, and again-- with more time he will come back to form and be the guy we need him to be.
Now Burke Badenhop, like I have said in the past about Rick VandenHurk- Badenhop is a guy that would not be here if it wasn't for injuries to key guys-- that is not to say he is not a talented player or anything of that sort, but I just don't think the guy is ready to be playing at this level in this capacity just yet. Burke would also benefit of some key guys coming back and being inserted into the pen as a long reliever.
