I dont know if I like this deal or not. I know we need help in the outfield, but, I was just never a fan of Jacque Jones. He has a BAD attitude. In the past his bat AND his glove have been pretty good. He's just not very "fan friendly". I'm not sure what his stats are the last couple years (I'm sure PAULO does) but, maybe he is going to be a good addition. What do you guys think? Go Marlins! !

I am not sure if a deal is official yet because I have yet to here anything about it from my reliable sources (team page, newspaper, etc). But anyways, when and if a deal becomes official, I think it would work in our favor because it would give us a true CF that can be of help defensively and offensively. Jacque's attitude will not be a problem here, we have some veterans of which will keep him in check and he will be an assest for us on and off the field.
Im still trying to find out if things are offcial, and if we are acquiring him via a trade and what we may have to give up for him.

They are talking about the trade on SportsCenter right now. But, they havent said what the Marlins had to give the Tigers (if anything).

I read on foxsports.com that we didn't have to give them anything, and we'll only be paying him $300,000. So weather we like it or not, it was cheap. We'll have to see how it works out.

Jones is earning $5 million this season — $2 million from the Cubs and $3 million from the Tigers. The Marlins will pay him a pro-rated portion of the major-league minimum salary — a sum that will amount to less than $300,000.

I LOVE this pick-up. On paper, he provides so many things to the Marlins. He is cheap, plays a great outfield, and has always hit (minus the start of this season in Detroit). Amezaga can go back to being our backup middle infielder and Cody can go back to being our 5th outfielder. Both positions they are best suited for.
As for his attitude, you are right. He does have a track record of being rather selfish. Lets hope Luis Gonzalez and Wes Helms pull him aside quickly and get him into the fold.

So from an economical standpoint- this is not a bad move because we got him cheap as you guys mentioned. Also, we did not have to give up any players currently on the roster or prospects, so it can be viewed as a gain for now and hopefully translates to his play on the field.
I think as the team hopefully continues to improve and becomes more of a contender, moves such as this one is the kind we are going to see-- I don't think we are going to sign or trade for big-named guys, more so lesser-name guys but at the same time these guys will be the kind that can make an impact on the team off the field more than anything.... Such as Wes Helms and Luis E. Gonzalez currently on the team.

So where does he bat in our line-up? He was a lead-off hitter in Detriot.

Considering the Marlins have the best leadoff hitter in the game, I hope we dont see Jones leading off.
Ramirez
Hermidia
Uggla
Jacobs
Cantu
Jones
Gonzalez
Treanor
And when Willingham is back:
Ramirez
Hermidia
Willingham
Jacobs
Uggla
Jones
Cantu
Treanor
I just dont understand why we continue to bat Hanley anywhere but leading off. When Jacobs and Willingham were both out, i can see why they tried it, but it makes no sense. Hanley best quality is to score runs, so freaking put him back at the leadoff spot.
on a side note....bring up Volstad k thanks
