I hope the Bravo's enjoy their day off and get some rest for the upcoming gauntlet that they will be facing. 28 straight games (thanks to the rainout in coors). A tough bunch of games as well:
4 vs the Mets beginning with the double header on Tuesday.
4 vs Arizona possibly the best team in baseball
3 vs a struggling Milwaukee club that none the less has some great offensive talent.
3 vs Cincinatti (hopefully another sweep)
4 vs Florida one of the 3 teams playing over .600 ball this year
3 vs Philly at home - hopefully we miss Hamels
1 vs Colorado - gotta love those side trips.
3 vs Chicago - one of the best offenses in the league.
3 vs Angels - then finally a road off day.
Grueling, but we do have 2 makeup games in there, so it really wasn't the schedulers fault other than setting teams up to play in Colorado in April. Seriously they should be required to have some sort of retractable roof, or put up with playing the first 3 weeks on the road. But then you'd have to do the same for the Yankees, Indians, Boston, etc. I guess.
If we can pull off 14-14 over this stretch of games I will be happy. I know that perhaps seems like a low standard, but that would be playing .500 ball verses the best competition we will have to face in the harshest schedule we have to play in (28 games in 27 days 6 cities - 6 plane rides). Anything over 14 wins is gravy and would be very nice. I'm going to predict 2-2 vs mets, 2-2 vs Ariz, 1-3 vs Mil, 3-0 vs Cin, 3-1 vs Fla, 2-1 vs Phil, 1-0 vs Rockies, 1-2 vs Chi, 2-1 vs LAA for a 17-11 record on this stretch. Hopefully its not just the Homer in me rearing its ugly head again ;-)
Lets start it off with a double header sweep on Tuesday!
Go Braves '08!!!
