Isn't it telling that many of us are becoming more familiar (or even "experts") in who are the up and comers from the minors, because of the feeling of futility that the Detroit Tigers are spreading among the fans?  I, for one, have made more of an effort to keep track of some of the prospects that we may eventually see in Motown, perhaps more sooner than later.

The Toledo Mud Hens right now have pitchers on opposite sides of the temperature range from hot to cold.

On the cold side right now is RHP Francis Beltran.  He made a brief appearance with the Tigers in April.  In 10 games as a reliever, he has amassed a 1-2 record, with an ERA of 9.9.  Yikes.  Looks like the weather needs to heat up for him.

Hot right now is a pitcher selected in the 2004 draft by the St. Louis Cardinals.  Detroit acquired him in the Mike Maroth trade with St. Louis.  In 46 2/3 innings, his record is 5-1, with a 2.31 ERA.  28 strikeouts, 18 walks and 39 hits racked up in that stretch.  Anyone know the identity of this 25-year old right hand pitcher?

Sorry to say I haven't been keeping up with our minor leaguers nearly as much as I should. As of right now I cannot name the pitcher you are referring to.

The player to be named was.... Chris Lambert .  Nice to see him doing well, looks like he was a former 1st round pick.

Chris Lambert is the pitcher.  Great job.  Anyone ever seen him pitch, maybe up close in Toledo?
