Someone created this thread last year and I remember it being pretty interesting...

I think we can agree that last years out-of-nowhere man was Vel-Cro... and I don't expect this years out-of-nowhere figure to be as impressive as VelCro last year, OR this year.

But I think there will be some outstanding plays by Weddle, and we may start to see the emergence of Nanee finally, or if we're lucky, we'll be imediately impressed by Antoine Cason.

For now, I'll say its gonna be Weddle, who I will be expecting more from. Whatcha think?

I have a feeling about Weddle as well but I've got hopes for Vincent Jackson. I think he really showed some great stuff come playoff time and I think he can continue that into the start of this upcoming season. I'm also going to keep my eyes closely on Andruw Pinnock. He can be the new blood we need in the back field to help LT break more records and get that ring he deserves.

I am telling you the beast of the year is going to be Anthony Waters... He will have a starting position by week 13

Me personally, im hoping the new RB tandum will be a blessing in disguise. Jacob Hester who can fill in as a true Fullback or rb, and Marcus Thomas who is a pretty tall RB at 6-2 . Thats who i hope are our break-out stars. Never know what could happen to LT and this is a all or nothing season for us people.... GetEm Boltzzz

I'll have to say Legadu is gonna shine. He will be taking some of Gates snaps early on and when Gates comes back Legadu will shift more to WR and out of the backfield like the big play against Indy in the playoffs. Can't wait to see him light it up. Another A.J. gem.

There are so many to choose from.

My Chargers have a ton of talented guys who were not starters who could step in and make some huge plays on a consistent basis. Could be Legedu Naanee? He showed some spark last year. It would be cool to see Jacob Hester have rookie of the year performance... Eric Weddle? Maybe. Andrew Pinnock opening holes and another rushing title for LaDainian Tomlinson. I'll take that. I would enjoy seeing Vincent Jackson performing like he did in the playoffs. It would be a thrill to see Eric Parker have a comeback season. So many to choose from. How nice to have this delima. I don't know who will do it but I know who I'd like to see do it.

Scott Chandler. The guy is 6-7 and with him on the field at the same time as VJ at 6-5 it would be an opportunity that would be too tempting.

The Chargers were fortunate to land Chandler, a tall and long-armed tight end from the University of Iowa. A converted wide receiver with very good hands, Chandler demonstrated big-play ability during offseason practices and training camp as a rookie, repeatedly hauling in deep passes down the field. As a senior at Iowa, 27 of his 44 catches netted first downs, including 12 such catches on third and fourth down plays.

GO BOLTZ

Hey Boltnut, missed ya on the whos QB better thread. Man, i feel bad for Kassim Osgood. I hope they just give him a (4) game chance/oppertunity. I like him better as speacial teams, but being a S.D.S.U. homer, i would love to see if he can be an improved player on offense. It would be crazy if he put up some Moss type numbers huh? LOL!!!!  GO Chargers...

What's with SDSU anyway?  How come they can't get a real football team?  It's a shame when they're better known for partying and drugs than other accolades like academics and sports.  I will never forget the when Don Coryell was pacing the sidelines and Jesse Freitas was throwing the ball around like an intermural game, scoring 50 points plus.

I agee with some of the potential up and comers and the ones that really stand out to me are: 1. Vincent Jackson; 2. Phillip Rivers; 3. Eric Weddle; and 4. Walters.   Vincent should parlay his playoff success into a big year and Rivers seemed to take a quantum leap in confidence at the end of the year.  Weddle has great football instincts and Walters appears to be a beast.

The others on the list are long shots because of too much competition.  I love Nanee but there doesn't seem to be enough balls to go around.  Same with their rookie running backs and Chandler.  It's tough to shine if you can't get enough playing time.

It's a thrill to see so much talent and so much competition.  It's going to be a great year.
