I absolutely loved the article.  Doyle took the words from my mouth.

If you want to be religeous, the fine.  Do what you wish.  I just don't need to hear about it all the time.  Especially from those who dont walk the walk.

I wih all religeons in the country were like the amish.  They keep it to themselves and they truly walk the walk.

Only problem is, that wasn't the point he was making. Do you really think he'd be allowed to write an article telling a religious group to be quiet?

The point of the article is about athletes pretending to be christians. Like the U.S.S.R. was a republic in name only, he's saying these athletes are only christian in name.

Again, point was NOT for Christians to hush up, but for these athletes to stop pretending to be christians.

Pura it appears i did what I chastize others for doing; I read part, not all of your post.

I read it and basically saw "Doyel is right, Christians need to shut up", but in reality that was the opinion part of your post while you also got the message of the article that these athletes are not walking the walk.

Sorry man

Gregg Doyel clearly doesn't understand the point of Christianity. He seems to think it is a three wish thing, with God as the genie. He talks about God healing T.O.'s injury, but then allowing the tsunami to happen. It doesn't work that way. It's not like if ten more people in India had prayed to God that day, the tsunami wouldn't have happened. As humans, we are often too limited to think about these types of things the right way, but if everything were perfect, and bad things (like the tsunami) never happened, we wouldn't need God, would we? Everything would already be there. God allows bad things to happen not necessarily to punish the victims, but to keep the focus on Him (which would be selfish if it were a human, but obviously God is not a human).

Also, Doyel says that "Christianity would be great without all those Christians." Well, those Christians are what Christianity is all about. Jesus said the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. Following God is not about putting a statue of Jesus on your front lawn and praying twice a day. That's why the church (not the Church, like the Lutheran Church or any denomination, but the church meaning the entire body of believers) is so important; because Jesus works in our midst, not just in the little crucifix in our bedroom.

Just my two cents. Any thoughts?
