""This, at its worst, is a vehicle and traffic misdemeanor. In the hierarchy of criminal conduct, this is certainly in the bottom third," Clark said."
Never mind what Roger Goodell is going to do about Marshawn Lynch, what is the state of New York going to do about a district attorney who calls a felony hit and run a minor traffic offense? What do you do when the people's representative tells the world that lying to the police to cover up a crime is the same thing as exercising your fifth amendment rights?
These kind of remarks are pure sleaze when they come out of the mouths of defense attorneys. But a DA? What does Erie County say to this woman whose representative as the victim has told her that it's no big deal when someone who has just hit you with a car just leaves you lying there (to die, for all the perpetrator knows)?
I don't know. Maybe he's looking for season tickets or something. One thing's for sure, Marshawn Lynch should go to jail for this crime. One other thing's for sure. He won't. And one last thing you can count on, if it were you or me in the same situation we would.
There's one thing I'm not sure about though. That is, will this Frank Clark fellow get away with these horrific comments?

Oh, is that right? I didn't know that. There certainly are some places that are like that, even very large cities like New York and Chicago at times during their histories.
However it does leave a couple of things that would tend to leave one scratching one's head. For instance, doesn't New York have a bar association that oversees the integrity of its members? Also, aren't district attorney's elected officials? These remarks seem to me to be incredibly unwise even for a completely corrupt DA.

"This, at its worst, is a vehicle and traffic misdemeanor. In the hierarchy of criminal conduct, this is certainly in the bottom third," Clark said."
Top third: Vehicular Homicide, Vehicle Rape (theft, keying, vandalism... sodomy?)
Middle Third: DWI, Coviting Thy Neighbors Rims/Boom
Bottom: Speeding, Running Red lights, Parking tickets, Hit-in-Run
This just shows you never talk to cops (or exit your home unless they have a warrent), and never talk to a DA unless you are in the law club.
And have many $'s to pay for a good lawyer. One who was able to get a "real" job out of law school. DA's start as public defenders or law clerks, then they are given a chance in traffic court, then felony court. Sounds like Clark should be bumped back to answering the judges phone.

You can't call something a felony because a bunch of uneducated people want to punish a pro athlete. It's a misdemeanor by definition and that limits what the DA can do. He can't trump up charges because you guys want him to. If anyone of us was in the same spot as Lynch, especially as it relates to no prior record, we would get the same treatment. Stop trying to make stuff up so you can spout off on how the legal system is unfair. The plea in this deal would have been made with any one of us.

You're correct, the DA didn't write the laws, he is just supposed to prosecute people who break them.
