To me it looks as if the Twins will contend in the Norris throughout the season. I have an idea for a player the Twins could sign to bolster their line-up, if not make them the favorites in the division. Won't cost us any talent or draft picks, and you might be able to sign him at a reasonable price. What if the Twins signed Barry Bonds to be the DH the last half of the season.
Sure he has a bad attitude, sure he is an old man whose better days are bygone, sure he has the Mitchell report hanging over him. I have to believe he has a good 15-20 homeruns left in him. Totally legitimizes the line-up. Gomez, Cassilla, Bonds, Morneau, Cuddy, Mauer, Young, 3B (whoever), and Harris. Maybe you bat Bonds 6th, I don't know.
Your Thoughts.

No Bonds. Although would be good for attendence, which I admit, I'd go to see him, even as DH. Too many outfielders though. We have one for DH spot. There was a trade I was thinking tonight that I'd like to see. Slowey and Buscher for Peavy and a top prospect. We have way too many 3rd basemen. Padres need a good 3rd basemen. Then giving them Slowey,, they get a young talent with hitting ability. We get last years CY Young award winner. Think about that. Peavy, Liriano, Baker, Blackburn and Livan. Next year Perkins takes Livan's spot. That is a World Series starting lineup.

Um, if you haven't noticed, WE need a good third baseman, Thosemine. The Padres are actually just fine, with Kevin Kouzmanoff and Chase Headley able to play that role nicely.
And what in god's name makes you think that the Padres would do anything but laugh in our faces? You're out of your mind... Peavy is a TOP FIVE pitcher in baseball. You're not even close.
Anyway, I'm not convinced we're contenders yet - we've built this winning streak largely on the backs of San Diego and Washington (five of the eight wins). Not impressive.
Get back to me at the All-Star break, after we've faced Detroit, Boston, Chicago and Cleveland. If we're still 6-8 games above .500 (or more), then it's time to add a piece. I just don't see it happening, though.

I don't either. We've built this win streak on the backs of two of the worst teams in baseball. Get back to me as well during the allstar break.

NO BONDS! The Twins are getting it done with their basic baseball. It all comes down to the fundamentals of baseball.

we dont need to bring anyone in. This is a rebuilding year, if we contend great, but don't trade any youngsters for a one year player who will only rob a young player of experience. As far as Bonds, why would we even want him. Now that he is rusty and off the juice he wouldn't be all that great, and he would be a big distraction in the clubhouse.
