Doubt they will be missed anywhere in the NHL.  Guess the CHL wants to have goons, low lifes and slow pokes. Oh well. More power to the players to keep getting NHL sized paychecks I guess

"Guess the CHL wants to have goons, low lifes and slow pokes"

Don't kid yourself ( but so many of you do it all the time).   If you don't believe that star players will eventually bolt the nhl for years at a time to play in a russian super league that will pay them more money with a lot more perks, then your nuts.

People keep forgetting that NHL salaries per athlete or by average are lower then any other major sports league in North America.  People also continue to ignore that NHL league revenues are ridiculously lower then any other sport around.

Oh, please don't use the " money isn't everything, players dream of winning the stanley cup"  b.s .   That was only until now because there were no other options.  If this Russian super league does well ( and I very much believe it will)  the NHL is in huge trouble.   Their revenues and available funds will destroy what teams in the NHL are doing in a league that's basically trying to succeed in cities that don't care to support.

Oh, one more thing.  How many Russian players did the NHL help "defect" back in the day?  How many have they "stolen" lately??   Now the NHL wants an agreement that states the leagues can't sign a player under contract?  lmao   That will NEVER HAPPEN.....   they will string the nhl along forever and never agree to anything.   Wow, what a penalty there is now. If a player leaves the NHL under contract and goes to Russia they get barred from international competition? WHO CARES ... your going to have people tripling what they make here for years at a time.  They aren't going to die if they don't play in international play.

Simply put, I find it hilarious that people think the least successful league that until now has had basically zero competition is suddenly going to succeed with competition..... how can any of this competition be positive?

I see your points and they are well reasoned. I won't counter with everyone wants to win a Stanley Cup even though that is true most of the time.  But on the flip side, the reason internationals want to play in the NHL is the chance to play in big American cities, live in America and compete against the best.

Whichever of these reasons is strongest is the players own reasoning, but bottom line most of the world wants to live in North AmericaAmerica is the cauldron of culture for which much of the world follows.  For more, see Chuck Kloosterman.
