Racer, I never said Mikey is a great driver, what I did imply is that if Michael had started with a Rick Hendrick, RCR, or Junior Johnson the chances are that Mikey would have won prior to his signing with DEI.
But they didn't sign Waltrip because there was always a more talented veteran or a rookie driver with more potential available. Why in the world would a top NASCAR team put Michael Waltrip in the seat when they had much better options to choose from?
And he said Mikey would win the Daytona 500 in 2001 and guess what? Mikey won.
And a broken watch is right twice a day. What's your point?
But I will say this no one will stay in NASCAR for over 20 years without some talent to drive these cars. NO ONE.
Wrong!
Why has Michael Waltrip stayed so long? It sure ain't talent.
But I will give credit where credit is due. Nobody whores themself out on camera like Michael Waltrip and nobody puts on the brown lipstick like he does either.
P.S. Mikeyfan, I don't "hate" Michael Waltrip. The truth is Waltrip has always been so insignificant in the realm of Cup racing that he rarely even came up in serious discussions about motorsports until I met you. You just assume I hate him because my view differs from yours. I have never started a thread for the purpose of slamming Waltrip, I'm merely replying to the endless string of Michael Waltrip threads you start.
If anything, I feel sorry for Waltrip. I'm sure the guy does have some dignity and self-pride as a professional driver, so it's got to hurt on some level when your primary sponsor insists on cranking out commercial after commercial making fun of his on-track performance.
