I know he's a restricted free agent and we just made him a qualifying offer, but I'm not sure how this whole situation works. I assume that other teams will make him offers now, but we can match the offer? How often does a restricted free agent end up on another team? Is this off-season kind of weird because not many teams have cap space?
Iguoudala is a very good player (20ppg, 5rpg, 5apg), but he is not a superstar , especially considering his performance in the playoffs last year, and I hope the Sixers don't pay him superstar money. As much as I like the guy and want to see him in a Sixers uniform, what if we were to let him walk and use that money to sign Josh Smith? Could Smith play the 4 for us? He is 2 years younger than Iguodala, plus he can run the floor and jump out of the building. The guy averaged 18 and 8 last year as a 23-year old. He's nasty and well on his way to being a big time NBA star.
Is there a list somewhere of all the NBA free agents? (restricted and non-restricted)

The Sixers have some serious decisions to make in the coming months. What does the future hold for the players on the roster, and can we bring in the necessary pieces to the puzzle. Although Iggy might be the face of this team, do the Sixers envision him at the starting guard position, which is the only position left for him to play. My opinion is that they should do a sign and trade, look for a good shooting guard, and try and find some more pieces to the puzzle unless they feel that some players already on the roster can fill a need. The older players need to go and bring in some young talent. This team is still a long way from contending because they don't have any players who consistently contribute and that includes Iggy who is a poor shooter from the field and the line and can be stopped by good defensive players or teams.

If we let Iguodala go, and didn't make a really hard push for Josh Smith I'd be really disappointed. I think Josh Smith is the more athletic player, with Iggy being a bit of a better shooter. That being said, Smith's shot improved a lot last year and he's by far a better rebounder and one of the more exciting shot blockers in the league at any position, let alone the 3 spot.

Everybody talks about signing players to play for the Sixers. If you have a player near thirty, that player will be past his prime by the time this team gets good if ever. Just because Boston was able to win a championship with their moves doesn't mean that other teams will also be successful. If you look at the Sixers draft history since AI was drafted, you'll see that most of the picks were traded and the rest that stayed still haven't reached star status ( yes little AI is just an OK player based on his overall stats). Billy King doomed this organization for years to come with his inept drafting and trading. Andre Miller needs to be traded before his usefulness fades at 32. They still don't have a shooting guard, and their only 3-point shooter they gave away for slop and some pick before 2015. You can grumble all you want about reality, but the fact is that this is an ordinary team in a league with some pretty sorry teams. Let's see what they do in free agency, but unless they get some scorers, some defense, and some rebounding this team will continue in the middle of the pack.

I'd like to get Brand, sure. What does top 5 team in the East really get you though. Means we'd be maybe top 10-15 team overall in NBA. Don't like those odds of winning a Championship. We need a player like Brand this year (PF) and then young (upgrade) PG next year. Or a PG this year and a Big next year. Andre Miller doesn't cut it.
could we add Biedrins, and Josh Smith? - plays much bigger then 6'9 and would really help take scoring pressure off Iggy.
We need a lot more to make it to the top.
I'd be ok with dumping Willie Green, Sammy, and Miller.
