Since the rule has recently been changed where 9 innings of no hit baseball must be recorded for it to be considered a true no hitter a visiting team cannot throw a no hitter and lose on the road.
So while the Angels combined to no hit the Dodgers (and lose) for 8 innings they do not get an "official" no hitter.
It is crazy that a team lost a game where the other team did not record a hit. A reach on error (stolen base then error) then sac fly is a tough way to give up a run especially in a 1-0 loss on the road.
Tough for Weaver to get taken out of the game while he still had a no no (even though he had a lot of pitchers) for a pinch hitter in the 7th.
I guess some people are probably upset with the "non official" no hitter that was thrown tonight.
Perhaps the rule is a little bit unfair to team I assume that the rule was put into place so a game that went 5 innings (due to rain or other elements) cannot get the same credit for a 9 inning no-hitter. I guess that is why the rule states 9 innings must be pitched. Perhaps 8 innings is enough...I don't really know...
I guess this rule will be put under the microscope now....
Really too bad for the Angels pitchers...what else can they do (except not make the error that allowed the runner to get on base). I kinda think that official scorers influence ERA, and other statistical numbers more than people realize...especially some of the "hometown rulings". I guess that is a different subject for a different time.
saw what happened bigtenboy'.... I guess it was the right call changing it back to an error because like they say, "a hitter must earn that 1st hit IF there's going to be a possible no hitter ( lol, which happened here)
the Kent AB was a cue shot with tons of english on it and I've seen many times when scorers give hits on these
just think, if it was ruled a hit there would have been a huge uproar

Not quite sure if anyone would actually WANT to 'achieve' this
Presumably, if the winning run came across in extra innings, this would count as a bona fide no-hitter.
