Nice to see a win to open the series against the hated Mets.  It was also nice to see Mark Mulder pitching again (albeit brief).  Looking forward to the weekend series against the Cubs.

I was surprised to see Mulder hitting the low 90s.  His curve had a lot of break to it as well.  I couldn't be happier to see Mark back on the mound tonight.

Yeah, that curveball hinted at the greatness that Mulder was. Is it too much to ask that he can return to that level? Now, I hear that Carp is getting closer and that he, too, could spend some time in the bullpen building his arm strength. The second half could get very interesting, starting this weekend against the Cubs. First, though, let's sweep the Pond Scum....

After getting sweapt by the Royals, I have to admit - I ever-so-briefly started to worry....but not too much as our starting pitching has still somehow managed to be incredible.  How about Mitchell Boggs??  It is amazing what La Russa and Duncan can find/do.

Now that Albert is back, hopefully Ryan Ludwick will find his swing again and Ankiel, Skip, Glaus, Yadi, and Miles can continue to do what they are doing.  (Although I wouldn't mind if Ankiel's BA went up over .260, but I won't complain about a man with 15HRs with little to no RBI potential for most of the season.  Don't know about Duncan - I'd love to see him be the guy who hit 20HRs in the first 2 months like last season, but I really don't think he has it in him anymore.  Confidence issues?  Who knows.

This team sure has some personality to it....La Rue stepping up BIG everytime he gets his chance.  Holding on to the ball after getting trampled, then coming up large with that HR.  These guys just won't quit and I absolutely love it.  A true Cardinal fan would have it no other way :)

Best of luck to the Mets and Cubs!

(But I hope we sweep both of you)

LOL, I haven't heard that expression in years.  It was first mentioned by David Letterman back in '85 when the Birds and the Mets were heated rivals.  I think it was in reference to Mookie Wilson if I recall.  Thanks for the memories.
