• Johnny Damon has been officially placed on the 15-day DL for the first time in his career.  Justin Christian has been recalled from Scranton to take his vacated spot on the active roster.
• Jose Molina has been an assassin behind the plate - throwing out the last 10 potential base stealers - and leads the major leagues throwing out 22 of 47 (46.8%) on the season.  By contrast, Jorge Posada and his ailing shoulder has thrown out just 3 of 33 (9%) potential base stealers.
  
• Tim Wakefield is a lifetime 9-16, 5.03 ERA, 1.44 WHIP in 45 games (28 starts) against the Yanks.  He is 1-8, 6.82 ERA, 1.53 WHIP over his last 10 starts against them.
  
• Joba Chamberlain is a lifetime 1-0, 2.08 ERA, 1.38 WHIP in 3 relief appearances against the Red Sox.  He is 1-0, 2.17 ERA, 1.52 WHIP in 5 outings since his transition to the rotation.

Melky is 5 of his last 10. … Edwar Ramirez has thrown six consecutive scoreless innings.
