Hey AAAAAAAAAAAA I would agree with most of your comments, I think Oregon will be in the 3 to 5th place range in the pac-10, I think they are so talented but when they do not play at Mac Court they severely underachieve, that is what separates WSU and UCLA i believe. UCLA is the best team in the conference right now, but I think the Cougs even though they played horrible today are a team who can win some road games in the pac-10 while protecting Friel Court, I look forward to playing you guys in a week, you guys have a good team.

"Yes, WSU returns all their relevant players (except, you cannot deny the hustle and hard work of Ivory Clark)."
No Cougar fan would. He stepped up in quite a few games for the Cougars last year.
"And yes, you guys were the 2nd place team...not the 2nd best, but you were 2nd place."
You're entitled to your opinion, but winning the 2nd most games against the same competition as 9 other teams usually means you're the 2nd best.
"By the way, you guys looked awesome today. Your "physically formidable" team got manhandled by a better, more skilled, and more talented UCLA team...the actual #1 team in the conference. If I hear (or see) one person talk about the "comeback" or say the game was close, I will know that you did not actually watch the game. Every single analyst said the score was much closer than game actually was. Another big game against another big-time opponent and ANOTHER LOSS! If I were you, I wouldn't plan on too many 97-second stretches where you score 21 points (especially considering you guys only scored 22 points in the first 20 minutes)."
Actually, the Cougars pulled within 6-7 points on a couple different occasions mid way through the 2nd half, but each time the Bruins would answer and bring the lead back up to 10-12 points. And that's after being down something like 26-8 at one point. So.....it definitely could have been much worse. The only real positive about the last minute 3 point barrage is that at the very least the Cougs will have some some confidence going into their next matchup with the Bruins. Deserved or not.

Interesting, the Fuskies beat the Ducks (Can't replace the D with an F in Ducks, thats a CBS no no). I was in Beasley watching the Cougs get the reserves some action, so I didn't get to watch this one; But.... If the Ducks loose on Saturday, they will be in the bottom third of the Pac. Tough spot to recover from this year. Get some guard play.

It looks like the Cougs are in prime position to finish at least 2nd again this year, especially if they handle their business against the Ducks on Sunday. With ASU losing by 23 to Illinois and by 15 to Nebraska earlier this season I just don't think they'll be able to continue their winning ways against UCLA, WSU, Stanford, etc.

Interesting! Thanks for the good start.
The entire conference is perimeter strong, top to bottom, so I have to believe that the teams with or inside games will rise to the top by season's end. Winning on the road is a challenge for all the teams. So I think the ranking will look something like:
1. UCLA
2. Stanford
3. Washington State
4. California
5. Arizona
6. USC
7. Washington
8. Arizona State
9. Oregon
10. Oregon State
I agree that UCLA will probably win the conference tournament.

what, these are the worst predictions I have ever seen. Stanford finishing second in the league. What!!!!!!!!!! California finishing fourth, they are sitting at 2-4 and got swept at home to the arizona schools. No way, here is how it will go down.
1.UCLA
1.Washington State
3.Stanford
4.Oregon
5.USC
6.Arizona State
7.Arizona
8.California
9.Washington
10.Oregon State

Sorry man, the Cougs are good but when they get into the tournament, they'll need the inside game that Stanford has. Assuming the twins live up to at least part of their potential.

Close game with Stanford... but Wazzu has got to get a middle game to be a Final Four team.
So I think that, to repeat, it will look like:
1.UCLA
2.Stanford
3.Washington State
4.USC
5.Arizona State
6.Arizona
7.California
8. Oregon
9.Washington
10.Oregon State

5. USC
6. ASU
7. ASU
8. Cal
9. UW
10. OSU

The gap between UCLA and the rest of the conference is widening. Now that Darren Collison is healthy and the Bruins are getting used to playing through Kevin Love I don't see them losing more than one game the rest of the regular season.
This Thursday's game at Pullman will be tough because the Cougars are playing with revenge and UCLA will, likely, be playing without Luc Richard Mbah A Moute. Mbah A Moute put the clamps on Kyle Weaver in the first meeting and, coupled with the early foul trouble to Derrick Low, UCLA won easily at Pauley. This game will come down to UCLA controlling the boards and getting easy scores off turnovers.
Prediction: UCLA 72 Washington State 67

Coug Fan in TX,
You obviously missed this passed weekend's games. Arizona got demolished by UCLA and Stanford took care of its own in Washington. Stanford's already beaten Arizona, has a better record, a two game lead on Arizona (as we stand) the tie breaker over Arizona.
Realistically, I definitely see Stanford going 8-1 or 7-2 the rest of the way (with one/two loss/es at either Arizona or UCLA or both). WSU has a ways to go to catch up to UCLA or Stanford now. It's quickly becoming a two horse race. I don't give Arizona much of a chance this weekend because the Washington schools are both reeling from being swept at home, but I'm not counting them out.
At best I would say the Conference rankings at this point (oh, and there's only one ASU), and things shouldn't change much this week, if Arizona can pull a split in Washington:
1 UCLA
2. Stanford
3. WSU
4. Zona
5. USC
6. Cal
7. ASU
8. Oregon

I agree. I can't imagine Stanford could possibly compete for second in the conference considering they returned 99% of their offensive production from last year, have two 7 ft players who log significant minutes, and the only senior who left after the 06-07 season occasionally came off the bench.
That would be impossible.

Sorry,
I got my games mixed up. It's the LA schools in Washington, even better. Go Stanford (and cougars)!!

While I agree that Stanford has been looked over, most notably by ESPN, which did not once mention that Stanford beat WSU with Stanford's second leading scorer sidelined with an ankle injury, I don't believe they will finish the season 8-1 or even 7-2. They have to hit the road to the LA schools and AZ schools. They will be lucky to split those games. I'll say a 5-4 finish is likely for Stanford with losses to UCLA, AZ, ASU on the road and WSU at home.
And if Hackett comes back for USC, I could see Stanford slipping below .500 for the second half of conference play.

Trust me, I definitely saw the games. Stanford was given that win after the Cougs were nice enough to go 3 of 8 from the line in the last 1:40 of regulation. Any one of the 5 missed free throws would have sealed the deal in regulation. And....Arizona may have been torn up by UCLA, but they're still a much better team than Stanford or WSU at this point.

Thanks for catching that. #7 was supposed to be Oregon. I guess I better proofread more.
