Ray McCallum is clearly a better coach than Dan Dakich; however, I bet some of the allumni were pulling the strings and they wanted an IU guy. I don't necessarily agree.  I am an alumnus and I wanted Dakich over McCallum because I wanted a clean start.  McCallum, while he may have had nothing to do with the *sigh* cheating, was still on Sampson's staff at the time.  We need an internal implosion, a clean break from what was.  Keep McCallum and interview him for the job next year, but don't pass the reigns to an assistant who was directly involved with the coach we just pushed out.

JSpence, nice!

Four words: Bobby the Brain Heenan.

Alright, alright...I think Mike Montgomery is probably the best choice, but I have a sneaking suspicion they might want a connection to the Bobby Knight era.  If that proves to be the case, Steve Alford...who's enjoying some success in his first year at New Mexico...might get the call.

He was a strong canidate, along with Pearl and Stallings for the job almost two years ago
Pearl has a history of sketchy phone calls with recruits, and Stallings is a Purdump Chump (plus he has a good thing going on in Nashville).  Neither are heading north to Indiana. . .

just a question but Indiana wouldnt be interested in Tony Bennett would they? he's from that part of the country and I know Wisconsin is his dream job but Indiana could throw 3 times the money at him that WSU is paying him now, just hope hes not even being mentioned

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but everyone's talking about him as a leading cadidate at this point in time.

Wait, Tony Bennett is a singer, so you guys are joking right?

And of those listed, I think Brad Stevens would be an excellent hire. They need someone young in there.

It's pretty apparent Bob Knight knew it was about to hit the fan.  Why else would he depart.  His son gets a program and Bob gets IU back.  At least he won;' embarass the program in the way Sampson did.  Fred Taylor would be proud!

No one on this list is a great recruiter other than Pearl. That is what gave Sampson success so quickly, he could recruit <legal or otherwise> and was a good coach. Granted a coach that might go down as one of the biggest idiots in College BB History. HOW DO YOU THROW AWAY THE IU JOB? HOW DO YOU DO THAT? LOL...ridiculous.

Indiana needs to hire a coach that can recruit his azz off and can actually coach. With White and probably Gordan leaving after this year, plus the players that have hinted on leaving that came specifically to play for CALLvin SAMsung. This could potentially set back IU for another few years.

I have wached Sean Miller and his energy and cohesive approach with his players would make him ideal for IU. I dont want see some young fart who's team cant score can't score 60 points a game (Bennett) or some old fart that doesnt have the ability to recruit / relate to today's players.

If we cant get Miller then Drew would be the next best choice.

As long as they stay away from Thad Matta I don't care who coaches at Indiana.

dudes Bobby Knight is the man. He is going to spark this IU team into a power house again. the supremacy is about to be born again at IU.  if the players i.e. Eric Gordon aren't prepared to handle this legend than they better head pro and run from him because he will return!

its not that (Bennett) teams cant score more than 60, WSU can do fine if they open up there offense, we just dont have the talent that Indiana has and cant get into a score fest, players love him, fans love him, hell 2 guys he recruited never even visited WSU's campus...his name popped up for every good job last year and was just wondering if there were any hints of his name cause I cant imagine him staying at WSU that long if his salary is 700 k a year when other programs can offer him much more money and a much better talent that he can recruit there

News flash: Alford is a self-absobed loser.  And chair-throw-boy is not about to resurrect in Bloomington.  He's done.

Tony Bennett of WSU seems like the perfect fit to me. He's a midwest guy who by all accounts runs a very clean probram - something that will be high on the list of priorities for Indiana going into this hire. In addition, I've heard rumors of mutual interest between the two parties.
