lol im sorry but Jim Sorgi has to leave. this guy shud be a 3rd string somewhere, he cant manage a first down. we need a decent back up QB in case peyton goes down. if we put sorgi in we aint goin anywhere lol, kinda scary huh?

Hey, I know that this sounds weird, but hes my favorite QB in the N.F.L. Hes produced good enough stats over the past few years for the Colts to keep him. I don't think he needs to go anywhere. I actually enjoy watching him play! ^_^

Last season I hope'd they'd make a change , He is a weak link , I once again hope they replace him , When ever he plays , I just turn the channel , He's not worth watching , If Peyton Manning goes down were scr*wed .

Granted there is a reason he's a back-up, but I think Tom Moore believes in him to get it done when we're up by like 30 points. o,o The way I see it is, if Tom didn't believe in Sorgi, he'd would be gone by now.

The guy hardly plays, and backups do not get many reps in practice, and normally when he plays he does so with backup players. Of course a guy who gets the reps of a 2nd stringers, and 2nd string recievers (in the last game they were using RBs as recievers they said) you will not look all that great. Back when the Colts were blowing teams out, he didn't look too bad. Trust me, almost any team who loses their starting QB will be in a world of trouble.

Clutch, you're a Colts fan, so I have to be easy on you. Unless you're related to the Sorgi clan in some manner, you'd have to be as blind as an albino bat in broad daylight to miss this. Sorgi, has never and will never, EVER be anything close to an NFL quarterback, and would struggle in the IWFL. Apparently, what he does have is a good sense of what play should be called in certain situations, which Manning can appreciate. He might make a decent quarterback coach in time, but an NFL quarterback; not even close. My hope is that Josh Betts banishes him to the equivalent of the Colts' Siberia once training camp concludes. He's the one with real promise and ability, not the son of the Maytag Repairman.

Okay okay everyone is aloud their opinion on this, but like I said on my last posting, Tom Moore believes that he can do well when called upon. Also almost every game I hear the announcers say " Oh Jim Sorgi didn't get any reps in practice" or " Manning did all the plays ___day's practice" so I don't he has a lot of time to make himself better.
Also if they do get rid of Jim Sorgi would Josh Betts really take over as 2nd string or should the Colts get someone else? and if they do try to get someone else, who?

First and foremost, Tom Moore has forgotten more football than I will ever know, but even he can be wrong. Jim Sorgi has been in the league for four years, under the tutelege of Jim Caldwell and Manning. In the four years that he's been in the league, he has shown very little improvement over that span. He continues to throw off of his back foot, he moves slowly in the pocket and he frustrates his receivers by either throwing too high (off the back foot) or too low, with the ball going in the turf. In the event of a blitz, Sorgi has been trained to either throw the ball in the stands or eat it. Far too often, he eats the ball. He's not a playmaker and has trouble diagnosing the direction of the blitz as well as the hot read that's designed to thwart it. Lastly, Jim follows his main target too much, giving defenders a jump on the ball. If what I just described sounds dour, that's because it is. Sorgi has been allowed to remain as 2nd string only because of the conditioning of Peyton and the overall competence of the Colts' offensive line. God forbid something catastrophic were to happen because the charade would end abruptly. If Sorgi proves me right and is demoted to third string this upcoming season, Betts should be given the same opportunity to develop that Jim had. Betts served his apprenticeship this season on the taxi squad soaking up the playbook and acting as the opposing quarterback in practices. Let's see what happens this upcoming training camp when Caldwell will have more of a say in personnel decisions.
