Looks like Chris Todd is feeling some pain in his throwing shoulder and Kodi Burns about to start getting a lot more snaps. I like this, I think Burns will be something special. And Chris Todd, if you are reading this, I really don't want to see #12 under center for a couple of years. May want to think about changing your number!
So who's with me? Kodi or Chris?

I'd like to see Cody get it. Franklin also seems to be high on Furr said he was raw but gifted.

Hopefully this will be a blessing in disguise. It might give Kodi the extra reps he needs to become a more complete player. Either way, I think Chris will be ready by this fall. Don't forget about Neil Caudle, he's still in the mix as well.

I don't know, I think Neil Caudle is going to be a career backup. Funny though, b/c when he was recruited people kind of made a big deal of it.

I don't care who gets it as long as they are a smart, mobile, tough QB. I am sick and tired of one dimensional QB's at Auburn. The highlight in all of this is that it looks like Franklin will have options.
I am also not opposed to a two QB rotation.

The latest word is that Todd separated his shoulder in his last CC game in Kansas. He doesn't have pain, he just can't make the throws right now. They are sitting him out of practice until the docs can see him, so he won't be in the Saturday scrimmage.

i say go with kodi burns simply because we have seen him perform. im sure the other QBs we have are gonna be good ones but kodi has elusiveness. That was the thing that gave me nightmares last season was watching brandon cox "escape" the rush. The reason it gave me nightmares is because it never happened, and when it did, it was like watching houdini trip. kodi burns is mobile, elusive and hopefully will develop as a passer. This was my first full season watching SEC football and all i can say is a QB has to be smarter than your average QB (big ten anyone?) has to be mobile and quick on the ball. Kodi Burns has the tools necessary for a spread offense which I am a huge fan of. either way auburn comes out on top. War eagle

I'm just not sure Burns has the smarts to make good decisions. But on the flip side, with his limited playing time, I really don't know. This is why I will have to have faith in our coaches to make the best decision.

I am also not opposed to a two QB rotation.
With you guys just switching to the spread for the upcoming season, unless one guy really distinguishes himself you probably will see a 2 QB rotation. I was impressed with the young kid who played in your bowl game, (I believe it was Burns). He seems to have the skill set needed to function well in the spread. I don't know anything about your other QB's but when we put the spread in at WVU the first year we had a 2 qb rotation and then Pat White's freshman year it was a 2 qb system until Adam Bednarik got hurt and White took over for good.
With the number of QB runs and reads, it's not neccessarily a bad thing to have 2 qb's who can run the system effectively. If any evidence of that is needed, look at Oregon last year.

what do you mean about oregon?
and i personally think a 2 qb system would be beneficial to the development and success of burns. burns is your ideal spread qb from a physical standpoint. i think todd will be more of a catapult for burns rather than an actual "starting qb." he may start some but i think that we will use him if kodi gets rattled or in big passing situations since he has already proven his worth there. he need to let kodi get his feet under him from a passing standpoint as well. he threw a couple of absolutely beautiful balls in the chick-fil-a bowl, so hopefully he has developed to the point that he can do that on a constant basis. if so, he's our man and todd can kind of coach him through situations in the spread. i expect to see todd get some pretty good pt though

I was using Oregon as an example of why you need at least two QB's who can effectively run the spread. Dixon got hurt, their season went to the crapper.

I have heard it said before " If you have two quarterbacks, you have no quarterbacks".
I really dont want to see two quarterbacks. I just dont like the thought of changing things around during a game like that. The cadence changes the timing, which changes the angles for the lineman, which changes the reads by the backs, which changes the blitz pickups, which changes the timing on hot routes, which changes the route breaks of the receivers. I just plain dont like it! I have been told that of all the QBs, FURR is the best looking talent. Crazy to think he would be the one to start (and i dont think he will) but based on athletic ability he is the most talked about guy in the locker room. Burns will be the starter in my opinion. He is the most prepared guy on the team and he is a very talented kid in his own right. Todd is hurt. That really kills us as far as evaluating him goes. At the end of the day, you are what you are, and Todd is hurt. Maybe he is the greatest QB ever when he is healthy, but he is not healthy....he is hurt. All there is to it! Also Hawthorn getting hurt really hurts us. He will be back by the season but he is missing lots of valuable practice time at a position that we have no clue about. I love the Ziemba vs. Coleman thing. That was awesome. I know that had Coleman been hurt seriously then this would be a different conversation, but to see an Offensive Lineman with that kind of attitude reminds me of the way Auburn used to play under coach Pat Dye! Great stuff there!!!

I follow the Tigers football team as closely as anyone, and I really havent seen enough of either QB to say whom I would rather see as AU's QB of the next 2 or years. So, I will say I'll take the guy who will mwin the most games for us
