I love Jerry and Don. They have a way of making fun of themselves which makes them more like real guys just watching a game and commenting on it. They have a great repoire and give each other little jabs. I love how Jerry makes fun of Don's suits.
When I was growing up it was Sean Mcdonough and Bob Montgomery and I think I may have liked them better than Jerry and Don, but the past is the past.
Now.... Cannot stand Joe Morgan or Tim McCarver. Although, I've found myself listening to them more just so I can laugh at the ridiculous comments. Tim McCarver's obsession with Derek Jeter is embarassing. Not sure if anyone remembers Game 1 of the 2007 Series. It was late in the game and I think it was Tulowitzky on third and Buck made some comment about Tulowitsky getting a bottle of Jeter's cologne as a gift from Jeter... long uncomfortable pause..... McCarver: "which is breathtaking by the way"... Jeter not even in the game and McCarver's kissing his little tushy.

I haven't read all the posts, but I could listen to Tim Brando all day. Harry Caray was entertaining to listen too, especially after he started getting good and drunk.

My favorite has to be Paul Keels. For those of you who haven't had the privilege of hearing him, he is the voice on the home of the Buckeyes. After every game you have a perfect visual of what happened, and you know what high school each player went to!
ex. Brian Hartline out of Canton Glenoak High School brought down by Dan Connor out of Strath Haven High School in Pennsylvania.

Surely someone has mentioned Bob Uecher from Major League! Ball 4. Ball 8. Ball 12.
OK, for real then. I grew up with Kevin Harlan calling Chiefs games, and he was so good he went national, doing football and basketball. He has a great voice, vocabulary, outstanding at descriptive detail, especially doing radio, makes you feel like you are there.
One of the most classic voices of all time in any sport has to be Johnny Most with the Celtics. Some of the NBA's greatest moments that include the Celtics would not be so dramatic if it weren't for his distinct voice shouting out, "Havlicek stole the ball!" or "Bird steals it, off to DJ, DJ lays it in!" Celtics win!
Chick Hearn has already been mentioned alot, another very distinctive and unique voice for all those years with the Lakers.
Al Michaels has the smoothest voice of all.
Jim McKay who hosted ABC's Wide World of Sports.
Kieth Jackson - College Football
Bob Costas at the Olympics.
Max Falkenstien for my Jayhawks, an incredible 50+ years calling both Basketball and Football games. Could be objective and less of a homer than his analyst and eventual sucsessor today, Bob Davis. One of the great homers, but at least its for my team!
Still, gotta love Bob Uecher!

Meant to include this with reference to Wide World of Sports...
“ Spanning the globe to bring you the constant variety of sport… the thrill of victory… and the agony of defeat… the human drama of athletic competition… this is ABC's Wide World of Sports! "

He was radio only, I believe. He had a 'Bohemian-type look' with a huge curling mustache and liked to wear sandals or go barefoot atleast during baseball. His appearance was not a popular look that T.V. executives were recruiting. Bill loved the Ballet and Russian Literature. He lived on a houseboat with cats galore in the lovely town of Sausalito, just north of San Francisco. When his car would break down, he would call his agent and ask him to purchase another car. His cars never cost more than $500. Bill rationalized that there was no reason to spend more money than that on transportation. He was a truly unique gentleman that we loved for his off the court genius as much as on court. 'Holy Toledo', Bill, we continue to miss you.

Rick Jeanerette for the Buffalo Sabres. You can't argue with the longest tenured broadcaster in the NHL.

Ron Santo is one of the worst out there. He is such a homer, and is really just like an annoying fan. His partner Pat Hughes is a good play-by-play guy, and how he doesn't throw Ron out of the broadcast booth is beyond me.
On the other side of town, Chris Singleton was unlistenable and I am glad he's going to Baseball Tonight. Now the White Sox have former Cub broadcaster Steve Stone joining Ed Farmer in the booth, which should make for a winning combination.
Nationally, Joe Buck, Chris Berman, and Joe Morgan are the worst. McCarver has some insightful things to say, but he doesn't know how to get his point across effectively. As a result, he comes off sounding like a moron most of the time.

I like or liked:
Frank Gifford,Howard Cosell and Dandy Don (MNF)
Mike Lange calling a Pitts. Penguins game
Bill Rafferty,Jay Bilas and Sean Mcdonough (college basketball)
Bob Walk and Steve Blass on Pirates telecasts (Walk is very insightful and Blass is very funny......2 very different but likable approaches)
Jon Miller (somebody said they didn't but I think he's funny)
Don't like:
Billy Packer (was good when he 1st started, now, thinks his word is Gospel)
Bob Greise ,just plain terrible as he was when he was a QB
Collinsworth (NFL)
I'm not that hard to please.I tend to like funnier guys. It's just a game, don't have to be so serious all the time.

Mike Patrick is the one who drives me crazy. Every time somebody makes a play, according to him, it is the greatest play ever in the history of the sport. It gets sickening how he gushes over athletes for the entire game.

Even if you are not a huge tennis fan, it is entertaining to listen to John Mcenroe. He is good at telling it like it is. Charles Barkley is also fun to watch for basketball entertainment.
On ESPN I like Chris Berman and Mike and Mike in the morning.
My most despised list has Skip Bayless and Jeremy Schapp on it. Schapp's voice scrapes a chalkboard for me.

I know they don't call the games, but the NBA on TNT crew of Ernie, Kenny, and Charles are great. They have great chemistry.
Also, you can't go wrong with Dick Vitale. His energy makes it.
My favorite though would have to be Jon Miller and Joe Morgan for Sunday Night Baseball.
I think everyone will agree when I say I hate listening to Madden.
