When we have my guy Lance Dance Smith on the team it doesnt matter.  Clay is probably 4th on the depth chart after PJ, Smith, and Brown, all of which played extremely well last year and all three are capable starters.  I am high on Smith because he is the most explosive offensive player on the team (explosiveness should never be kept off the field), along with Jefferson, both of which should be the #1 guys at their positions next year IMO.  I am in favor for a platoon at RB next year of PJ (used inside the 20 yd lines), and Lance (used from 20 to 20), it uses thunder in the red zone and lightning in the open field which is exactly where each should be utilized.

Clay will get his shot when he is a Junior, or when PJ and Lance both leave.

I heard that Clay did a decent job on the practice squad last year.  I have to agree with BadgerFanMT about Smith.  He brings such a different dimension than Hill, Brown or even Clay.  I'm suprised he wasn't utilized (obviously at home) more.  This year we got him for road games.  I'm thinking Clay won't see significant playing time until he's a sophmore.

I'd sure like to see PJ get less carries, but only so he stays both fresh and healthy.  Smith flashes so much potential, but his head isn't always in it.  I just don't see Clay making much of an impact unless someone gets hurt.  But we'll see.  BB certainly seems open to changing the depth chart around based on what players do in games and in practice.  So maybe Clay will make an impact this year.

And why are you trying to compare him to one of the best running backs that Wisconsin has had?  Its like comparing PJ Hill to Ron Dayne.  Sure they are both physically similar, but there just is no comparison.  You can't campare people to the best at their position.  They will never live up to expectations if you do that.

Don't even bother responding to that guy.  He's just a troll, some of his recent posts are the classics:

"wow you guys!, Brett Favre is so fing gay"
"shut up if you think u know everything, hit me up at 931 8494"

And the best of both worlds:

"JOhn jenson is gay call him 931 8494"

yo, BB said that Clay has kept the same weight, but took on an entirely different body shape over this year. what that means, i dont know. but BB also said that you can just tell hes a great player whenever he has the ball in his hands.

this is what i would do if i was BB

1st quarter John Clay

2nd quarter Zach Brown

3rd quarter PJ

4th quarter Lance "cuffs" Smith

John Clay would get some playing time, and zach brown would have time to show us what he has, and do a little bruisin. third quarter PJ would just demolish everybody, bruise everyone up real good. then by the 4th quarter, lance smith will look like the fastest guy the defense has ever seen, and their bruised up bodies wont come close to catching him.
