Everyone keeps saying "the Big Ten is down" this year. As compared to what?? I think this years Big Ten is better and deeper than last years version yet you get the impression from the media that they think the opposite. The Badgers are the Big Ten champs, outside of a a very few handful of TEAMS the Badgers are as good as any team in the nation, definitely top 8, but if you want to say a few other conferences have better teams at the top I am fine with that, but Indiana and Purdue are as good as as any other conferences #2 or #3 teams (save maybe the ACC since Duke and UNC are so good at #1 and #2, though I am not sure the ACC's #3 team is as good......). Then you have Michigan State at #4, MSU might be the best #4 team in the nation, I think that would be tough to argue. THen you have Ohio State at #5, I am not here to argue that Ohio State is a great team but they are also the #5 team in the confernce, hardly a bad #5 team and I would put them up against most other conferences number 5 teams. Minnesota is #6, I think Tubby has done a great job up at Minnesota and while they won't make the NCAA tourney they are a pretty likely NIT team and a NIT team is a pretty solid #6 team in a conference IMO. then you have a grouping of PSU, Illinois and Iowa, PSU had alot of injuries but still regardless of WHY they aren;t very good, Iowa plays really good defense and are a tough bottom of conference team and lets face it Illinois somehow self destructed this year but if you put them as the #9 or #10 team in the conference as the current standings say, do you know of any other conferences #9 or #10 teams that are definitively better than Illinois, I don't know of any. THen there is Northwestern, their terriblem their bottom of the barrell but you know what, there are other bCS conference bottom dwellers that are worse (Oregon State anyone.......). I am not here trying to argue that the Big Ten is the best conference but I think this nonsense of them being down and not close to as good as other power conferences is ridiculous nonsense easily dismissed if one just actually looks at the teams involved. I seriously think this "stigma" is mainly due to the Badgers winning the conference, I think if everything else was equal but Indiana or MSU were the champs this year some of this nonsense would not be as overplayed as it has been, I guess the Badgers need a serious run in March to dispell this myth

Guess we'll see you back here when Wisconsin loses to Duke by 24 again.

If there is a rematch of that game it won't be so one-sided.  Back in November the Badgers were still breaking in an inexperienced point guard and had no idea where their scoring was going to come from in a big-game situation.  The Badgers have improved in every area of the game since then.  In a rematch I would expect a good game and hope for a Wisconsin win.  No one's going to argue that the Badgers are a better team than Duke, after all.

Your Ohio State thing doesn't hold up.  Sure I'd put them up against the number 5 in most conferences, but not the majors.  ACC-Maryland This one would be interesting, but I like the Terps.  Big 12-Baylor No way.  Big East-West Virginia(Marquette is tied) I think either of these teams could take down Ohio State without breaking a sweat.  Pac 10-Arizona State OK I like OSU in this one, but I wouldn't pick them over Arizona or Oregon, the 6 and 7 teams.  SEC-Vanderbilt (or Mississippi) Again, how exactly is Ohio State winning against these teams?

Of that list, only Maryland and Arizona State have worse RPI numbers than OSU.  Both of those conferences have teams lower in the standings than 5th (Miami, Arizona, and Oregon) with better RPIs than Ohio State.  RPI isn't the be-all, end-all, but it isn't so badly wrong to say Ohio State could play with all of those teams.

I didn;t say Ohio State was definitely BETTER than all the other power conferences #5 teams, I said they were arguably as good, possibly better than the other conferences #5 teams. Like MSOT of the power conference #5 teams they all have talent but are inconsistant fo whatever reason. Of all the teams you mentioned there is not one I don;t think Ohio State couldn;t beat, does that mean they would win NO, but there are NONE you could say would definitely walk away with a win, hence my point of the Big Ten not being as bad as everyone keeps saying, aka everyone elses "po op" stinks too

I wouldn't really say they're 'down', as the top 4 are very decent.  I highly doubt any of them are final 4 material, but any of them can make the sweet 16 for sure, as long as they're not playing any good shooting, very fast teams.  I would say the B10 is just not very deep this year..... OSU lost so much from last year, and Tubby's not had time yet, nor Beilein....... they'll be deeper in the next couple years I'm thinkin, just very thin now.

Would say they are down.  Usually, the Little 11 gets 6-7 teams into the Big Dance.  Looks like this year, they are only good enough to get 4.  And if history tells us anything, most of them will see first week exits.  Wisconsin, Indiana, Purdue, Mich. St.  Nothing intimidating there.  No one else from that conference is good enough to make the Dance.

And if history tells us anything, most of them will see first week exits.YOu better go back and study your history then. Big Ten annually has more teams advance further than any other conference save the ACC whome they are tied with in this decade as far as Final Four appearances etc....
