I love how Wisconsin can beat Texas at their house and they don't get the dues as a team that can go all the way, but Texas does? Outside of the 1st Half of the Duke game Wisconsin has shown that it makes every team play their style and they have the #1 Scoring defense in the country. Yes the Big Ten had a down year. However, only Mich.State is over-rated due to the fact that they rely on Neitzel for all thier offense. Same reason the Badgers beat them. However, Purdue and Indiana are very tough teams, especially Purdue. The Badgers got screwed with a #3 seed. They should have been a #2 seed over Texas and over Duke. Plus they got dumped in the hardest bracket. Just goes to show more of the conference bias that has always been this way since the days Illinois, Mich.St., Ohio, and Wisconsin made final fours over the last decade. Oregon? Please....Arizona what a sham? I hate this weak Pac-10 bias.

Alright, we're all angry about the 3 to an extent. but lets get real here. the pac-10 is not weak, look into it, its called "information" oregon a 9? i agree, foolish, zona in? again i agree. they didnt throw wisco into the "hardest bracket" dude, look where it is, if we win, we play in MI. thats a GOOD DRAW! if you want to win it all, guess what dodger, you have to beat whomever you face, regardless of what bracket you're in. i agree, that we should have the 2 over texas, but over duke? no way. based on what info? we played straight up once this year, and they mopped the floor with us. i would like to see wisco as a 2 in the south, but as it is we got a three, in our back yard. i'll take it. and to say only MSU is overrated. have you seen indiana? they will be lucky to even compete w/ arkansas. dont get me wrong, i'd like to see an all big ten final four, but the hoosiers are finished, msu doesnt beat pitt....and purdue will have to show up. although i do have them beating xavier.

Wisconsin is just a bunch of big, lumbering farm boys that will be exposed as soon as they get away from the big ten refs, who call a foul every 45 seconds and stop play.

Izzone - The B10 refs call a foul every 45 sec.? Do you have anything to base this on besides the WI / MSU game? Didn't think so.
Nobody said Wisconsin is an "elite" team. But, I'd rather be a fan of an upper 2nd tier team in both basketball AND football than be a fan of a one sport school like Duke, NC, UCLA, etc. Fact is, all considered, the B10 IS the elite conference all others wish they were.

The Big Ten is the most physical league. That is what makes Wisconsin so good, they will play physical with anybody. Wisconsin really got put is a tough side of the bracket though.

I've been bashing Wisconsin heavily on the message boards lately, mainly because I think they are over rated and the big ten is really bad. However, I've decided to go to the games in Omaha and give them a chance to prove me wrong.
That being said, I think there is a better chance Wisconsin gets beat by USC than the chance they make the final four.
How will they get past Kansas? I don't see Wisconsin having much of a chance.

sad thing is, you believe that. i would rather have bo ryan as my coach, picking kids up on farms, then izzo, who i think recruits through the local public defender's office. there is a lot to be said for having boys that will win as a team. like lets look at drew this wknd durring the loss to sconi. down by a bucket, with TWO men WIDE open under the hoop who in a heartbeat could've tied the game, and MAYBE picked up the harm, and won w/ a free throw. instead he went and threw up a "im going to be a hero" shot, and look what happened. michigan state will become pitt's next Bi*ch after they handle oral Rob.
not to mention bo ryan OWNS tom izzo. MSU can win and win and win, but they face sconi, and what do you know? farm boys beat thugs 9 out of 10.

Ok....The reason I say Wisconsin deserves the #2 over Duke is solely on the losses Duke took and their inability to do much of anything in the ACC tourney by losing to Clemson. They have not played that well to end the year. Texas and Wisconsin have both played well and we should get the nod over them because we beat them at "THEIR HOUSE". That is huge.
Yes...The Midwest Region is the hardest bracket by far. You have the Big East Champion (Georgetown), Big 12 Champion (Kansas), Big Ten Champion(Wisconsin), then you throw in a bunch of serious talents that on any given night can beat top teams in Kansas State, USC, Clemson.
The thing about Wisonsin getting past Kansas...well that would be if Kansas can get past the second round. They were just as dominate the last few years and can't do anything in the tourney. And Wisconsin is not flashy, but they are fundamentally sound, play team ball, and make you play their game. I love teams like Wisconsin that don't put out a bunch of McDonald's All-Americans and go out and compete. They were not even expected to be higher than 3rd in the Big Ten this year.
Indiana is streaky. They have the talent to play with the best and can lose to the worst. But they are strong.
Purdue is a better 3 point shooting team than Wisconsin, but play the same hard nosed defense the Badgers do. I think they could make a deep run.
Michigan St. is the weakest Big 10 Representative.
Of all the teams Kansas and Clemson make me the most nervous as a Wisconsin fan. I wish we were playing Georgetown, cuz we are a better half court team than they are. They will go to the final four if Kansas bows out early. Otherwise it should be a hell of a Sweet 16 game if the two meet. I am not convinced any team can blow out the Badgers right now.
Either way....Go Big Ten!
And yes...Oregon and Arizona have no right to be in the tourney! Period....Pac-10 not over-rated...yeah cuz Wash. St has looked so good right? The only real team out of that conference is UCLA. Sorry...that is the overhyped conference.

Izzone,
Maybe if your team wasn't so undisciplined they wouldn't always foul. That is why they are always on the wrong side of that number. Has nothing to do with the refs. Stop crying. Your team will be the first to bow out of the tourney. I love the Big Ten. Will root for every team, but Mich St. is the biggest bunch of whiners and were the most over-rated team in our conference.

I wouldn't put Wisconsin ahead of Duke considering Duke destroyed us earlier this year but I do think Wisconsin should've been ahead of G'town or Texas.

I don't think that we've had a "farm boy" since Mike Wilkinson. That farm boy is now making beau coup money playing in Russia.

I have seen plenty of whining from Badger fans lately so the charges against MSU fans as whiners are pretty humorous. More than one Badger fan bas claimed that the Badgers received the worse seeding of any team in the tournament.
Also, the chances of MSU getting bounced from the tournament before the Badgers are pretty low. Let's take a look at the last 5 years.
2002 UW - Second Round MSU - First Round
2003 UW - Sweet Sixteen MSU - Elite Eight
2004 UW - Second Round MSU - First Round
2005 UW - Elite Eight MSU - Final Four
2006 UW - First Round MSU - First Round
2007 UW - Second Round MSU- Second Round
Over those 6 tournaments Bo Ryan has managed a pathetic one win against single digit seeded teams (#9 St. John's in 2002).
Over that same time MSU has over a #2 Florida (2003), #6 Maryland (2003), #1 Duke (2005), #2 Kentucky (2005), #8 Marquette (2007).
So until Bo Ryan remembers how to coach in the post-season Badger Fans may want to limit their trashing of Tom Izzo's coaching.

U wisconsin fans have a bad hatred for MSU. Izzo makes all the difference in tourney play and whether you like it or not... Neitzel is a great guard and so is kalin lucas. All this Pitt talk and MSU is weak, is terrible when no one in the Big Ten is more reliable the MSU in the tourney. If they bow out early this year... i still pick them to do better than any other Big Ten school for the next 4 years and I will continue too.

1. UW owes MSU. For an MSU fan to say UW Fans hate Izzo is ridiculous. Isn't Bo Ryan 11-3 all time versus Izzo. Did n't Bo end MSU's home winning streak his first year in the league and sweep Izzo to earn the Big Ten Title? Didn't Bo keep MSU from unfurling their Big Ten Banner at 4 years ago and then claim the championship for the Badgers a week later? Didn't Bo sweep Izzo this year? Why would UW hate Izzo...I'd say we love him.
2. I don't know how far UW will go in the tournament.
I struggle with what to make of their performance in the Big Ten this year. Normally, I would be beaming with confidence heading into next weekend...however, the Big Ten was a little weaker this year.
That being said UW has put together some gritty performances.& | |
