Last season, I flew to ATL in mid November to see the Falcons take on the Bucs. It was one of the games that Byron was slated to start over Harrington. I can not tell you how absolutely atrocious he was.

This is a guy who held onto the ball forever. He had no idea where any body was on the field. Not his offense, not the defense players.

And I understand some of that comes from haviing a talentless squad around him.
But most of what I saw was a QB that had no fire, no desire to get better, and was completely out of his league.

He was getting the ball stripped everytime he was hit.
IT IS THE QB'S JOB TO PROTECT THE BALL.

He threw into double coverage, and he was picked just once (I think) but the bucs dropped a few otyher easy takeaways.
IT IS THE QB'S JOB TO CHECK DOWN.

 - He had no command of his huddle.
 - He had no pocket pressence.
 - He had NO understanding of the offense or his teammates - and he had been on the team for 11 weeks. I am not expecting him to be Peyton Manning, but he was terrible.
 - He held onto the ball forever - he was actually scared to pull the trigger.
 - He had no mobility (he never did) and he was HORRIBLY inaccurate. On simply hook routes, he would drop the ball at his WRs feet. I mean 6 or 8 yards down the field. It was embarrassing. The only balls he completed were to Dunn.

I am telling you - Prisco is worng.
No one cares where he was drafted.
Byron has had a very average career stats-wise - and I am being generous.
He has not finished a season since 2004. He was bad in 2006, and HORRENDOUS in 2007.

Byron has regressed, and there is enough film on him for teams to know that he is at best a 28 year old project who can't get it done on a consistent basis.
You can't build around the guy - and his last two teams simply did not want him.

I watched him live - and he was worse than an XFL QB. I am not exaggerating.

People - there is a reason why a QB needy league of 232 teams won't even call the guy.
They have all seen what I am saying.

Leftwich is a TERRIBLE. He will never be more than a back-up QB.

I'm also going to agree with this comment.  Although their not my favorite team, I do like the Jags and watch their games often.  Byron was the king at overthrowing wide open receivers, choking under pressure, and his lack of mobility was terrible.  I always put him in the same group as Chris Simms.  Guys who are starting Q's (at the time) that really should never even have made an NFL roster

If anybody agrees with this statement is apparently ignorant about football or just haven't seen him while he was playing for the Jaguars.  I am not trying to defend Lefwich because his mechanics is horrible. But if you throw a guy on the field who doesn't know the system or the players around him is going to faulter. Anybody who would have played QB for the Falcons would have failed.  I have seen Byron make a lot of good throws.  And the guy who said that Byron choked under pressure is just piggy back riding. It was a reason why they called Byron the comeback kid. I am reading a lot of comments that just don't make any sense at all. Some of them are just blabbering about anythng.  A lot of them don't even have their facts straight about the guy. I am season ticket holder and I saw him play alot. He played well in a lot of games and I saw him play horrible in some games. More good than bad. Last preseason he played absolutely horrible and I think that lead  to the reason of Jacks decision last year. He saw that Garrard could still grow and Byron had reached his limit. To say that he is a horrible QB and he chokes under pressure. I am glad we finally found a QB.

Byron needs to be put in a good situation but the problem with that is what team has a good system for byron. I think that you would be asking too much from a line to keep him upright the entire game. That release is just too much now-a-days.

Its funny how you commented on all the seasons Byron played including the ones he got hurt except the 05 season. Why is that?

Hes awful and un-coachable. They tried to get him to commit to an off-season conditioning program to take some weight off the top and increase the strength of his legs and he did not participate. His throwing motion is awful, one of the worst ever for a 1st round guy. His entire resume is littered with ankle injuries including college. At this point only a desperate desperate desperate team will sign him he is way to un-reliable. I am not surprised at all in the lack of interest in him. Id sign Brad Johnson or Vinne Testaverde before Id sign this waste of money.

Byron Leftwich = Bum

Once again a piggy back rider. Where in the world did you get this info from????  Byron went to a off season program with Fred T. last year.  And he actually lost weight. The team tried to get him to change his throwing motion and he didn't want to do it. This crap is getting worst than Hillary with the false information crap. GEEEZZZZZZZZ.

One thing that can be said about Byron, is the guy is fearless in the pocket. It often results in him getting smacked, but you won't catch him peaking at the rush.

Does anyone think that perhaps Del-Rio has been slandering him all over the NFL?

Byrons Leftwich is by no means a "good qb". That said, he is better than probably half of the starting QBs in the league right now. He would improve the QB situation on the following teams:

1. Vikings 2. Panthers (delhomme will get hurt again) 3. Bears 4. Bills 5. Miami 6. Kansas City 7. 49ers 8. Redskins.

I think he would perform best in Minnesota and in Chicago. Both teams have a good starting o-line, but are REALLY lacking in the QB department.
