This isnt just concerning football, but all Bama Athletics.  It will just get more responses and more play on the football boards.

Like it says at the top, Mal Moore has got to go.  Today was the straw that broke the camels back.  Someone tell me seriously why Alabama could not drop $60,000 for the basketball team to continue playing?  The coach wanted to still play, the players, who this is really all about anyways, wanted to still play, yet the man in charge can't give the guys another chance to play.  Instead, this season and Mykal Riley's career will end on a missed 3-pointer to beat Miss. St.  It is now evident more than ever that Mal only cares about football.  Every other sport has taken a nose dive under Mal, save for maybe softball, but it had anywhere to go but up when Mal came into office.  The last time we missed the postseason in basketball was in 2000, when Mal was in office for all of 4 months at the time.  Baseball has yet to return to Omaha under Mal.  Women's Basketball has been atrocious under Mal and by hiring butt buddy Wendell Hudson, he is just "shuffling the chairs on the deck of the Titanic" as Paul Finebaum put it today and I totally agree.  The football team has floundered under bad hire after bad hire for 8 years now and he saved his job by miraculously pulling in Nick Saban.  Yea the facilities have been updated, but thats not what AD is all about.  Its also about excelling in the sports that are in these state of the ar facilities.  Even now, though, Mal has failed at his only real bright spot on his resume.  Last week, President Witt shot down a stadium expansion for BDS.  Mal didnt even stand up to the idiot about how this expansion is needed.  If Witt wants 28,000 students on campus, there cant just be 15,000 seats available for students in BDS, but Mal didnt point that out to Witt, and my football tickets will probably be cut in half soon because of it.  So if the University wants to continue to live by the Bear's Boys mentality that it has with Mal, let him stay until we are at the bottom of every SEC sport and not just half of them.  However, if they want the athletic programs that the University always brags about having, Mal has got to go because he could care less about every other sport.  Now Im done, thank you.

Great Post! I have had this concern for a long time.  Any AD whose school goes through 5 HCs, probation and terrible seasons for all sports should lose their job without a doubt.  I personally believe that Mal Moore has some serious dirt on our A dept.  That is the only reason he still has a job.  Whatever he has on Alabama must be enough for the death penalty or some other SERIOUS probation.  Mal Moore SUCKS!!

Great post, ng, and excellent site ref. RedPacaderm.  This AD has had to go for some time now.  Who measures and assesses his "success" and evaluates his performance?  Whoever it is isn't doing an objective job.  There are too many negative strikes against Mal Moore, and it's time for those intrusive alums, if that's where his influence lies, or whoever to let go and dump him!  He is not good for Alabama athletics.

He has one measuring stick applied to him:  How much money does he raise?

Mal brings in the money and that is what has kept him in his chair.  As much as it would hurt the programs, the only way to get Mal ousted is for the Alumni to vote him out by not giving.

If Mal's only measuring stick is the amount of money he pulls in, this does not sound like an AD function to me.  Not arguing with you here, wayslow1, but there is something wrong in this picture.  They have an alumni office, why isn't it the responsible arena for contributions, I wonder.  If Mal is keeping his chair because of alumni contacts, something isn't right here.  Alumns should have no pull on the operation of the AD office, imo.  I know it's gone on for some time, but now is the time for change there too.

The Alumni office is responsible for general capital campaigns conducting by the University.  But those conducted solely for the athletic dept (stadium expansion, practice facilities) fall into Mal Moore's lap.  His job is to make sure that the various athletic programs have what they need to operate successfully.  The primary way he does that is to make sure there is $$$ flowing.

Mal has never really been the person to make decisions on the coaches, esp the higher level programs.  He's a puppet that does what the trustees and president want.  He's loyal to the administration that pays him.

Wait a minute.  Did the basketball team deserve to go anywhere after such a terrible season?  Answer: NO.

Mal seems to be doing a fine job; he improved the facilities for athletes, completed a stadium expansion for Bryant-Denny, and signed Saban.

The onlt thing I'd complain about is that he hasn't yet fired C Mark Gottfreid.
