It will be WashSt scrambling to match the Heels up tempo play not UNC figuring out how to play against a half court team.
As soon as the Heels post 10pts in the first 3mins, Wazzu we be calling timeout and forced to play up tempo just to keep up. If not, the Tar heels will leave them in the dust trying to figure out what just happened.
Wazzu does have great defense and even though they will play half court "O", off made baskets, UNC will still run the fast break from the inbounds pass. I hope they are in shape because they're going to get a workout up & down the court.

It doesnt matter if a team is a 16 seed or a 9 seed, the fact that they made it to the tournament makes them a threat. Arkansas, even though it was a 9 seed, beat Tennessee in the SEC tourney (who is a 2 seed). The Heels looked to finally be playing together as a team, not just having to rely on Hansbrough or Ellington for scoring. When you have two big men shoot 100% from the field, that's saying enough. Not to mention Lawson finally looks to be over his ankle injury and Ellington seems to have his confindence back. Should make for an interesting matchup with Wash St, but I think the Heels overall ability will overtake them.

Seriously its like Wazzu just belieevs they are going to slow us down. Even in our two losses we still scored 75+ points. You might be able to slow us down to 80, but do you really believe you'll score 85 or 90? Yes they stopped ND, but is ND really as good as UNC? Our halfcourt game has developed very nicely this year and it really doesn't matter if you slow us down or not, Lawson will pick you apart, Hansbrough will make difficult shots and go to the line, and Wayne and Danny will continue to make their 3's. Too many weapons to stop.

Carolina is HEAD AND SHOULDERS better than Notre Dame. I love Wash State's defense BUT, they don't have the weapons to really expose North Carolina on the other side.
Oh, Carolina isn't the best defensive team in the world BUT, they play pretty decent defense and it should be enough to stifle WSU's attack. I expect a good game but a Tarheel victory.

In any sport your but, more so in basketball your goal is to impose your playing style on the other team. In the first 2 games UNC has done that w/little opposition. Wazzu does present a problem because they are a defensive minded team that just held N.D. to 41 points. UNC as we all know likes to run & gun whereas Wazzu is more of the half-court type that likes to "bump and grind". I really don't think they will hold UNC under 80 points.
However....
If UNC jumps out to a lead like they did against Arkansas, Wazzu will have to play catch up and that means speeding up the game which isn't their style. This will lead to turnovers and this game will be a blowout in UNC's favor.
If Wazzu is within striking distance (no more than a 2 possesion game/6 points) or has the lead w/5 minutes left, this could be a major upset, especially if Derrick Low is lights out.

Let's not crown the 'Heels just yet. There's a lot of work left to do. Don't jinx 'em.
WSU will be a solid test and if they get past them then Louisville or Tennessee awaits... either of them can run with the 'Heels.
This is a good time for quiet confidence. I just want the 'Heels to continue to be as focused and balanced as they have been in the first two rounds.

This UNC team is a living example of that new commercial they've been running during the tourney. Talking about WSU, it's going to be very simple, "our better is better than yours." I'm sure that Washington State is going to be slowing the tempo down from the beginning but it will fail. The scary thing about this UNC team; sorry, one of the scary things about this team is the fact that Ty Lawson is SO quick that we can force you to play our game.
No team in the country moves the ball down the court faster on a made basket than UNC and no team in the country rebounds as well as the Heels. There is no way to stop the break, you can only slow it down by making your shots.
UNC has a better half court offense than WSU. Our perimeter scoring is better. Our post players are better.
If WSU wants to slow down the game they better make every shot... When you get badly out-rebounded every one of those missed shots is going to hurt.
Good luck playing catchup by fouling; we're one of the best free-throw shooting teams in the country.
I love this time of year. Good luck WSU. Let's dance.

If WSU scores 75 points they will win. NC is a great team, playing at home, but the PAC 10 was far better than the ACC this year. WSU may be the best team that NC played all year.
