Hughes showed today that not only can he fit in the Badgers swing offense, he can help them to dominate with it. Solid, if not spectacular performance by Hughes and Flowers. Looking to G'Town, how do the Badgers guards fit against G'Town guards? I live on the West Coast so all I ever hear is UCLA, USC, Stanford. don't know much about georgetown.

Flowers shooting was on BUT, FLowers turned the ball over and looked out of sunc offensively (his turnovers were sloppy and stupid too). Flowers also got dominated defensively by Walker on the occasions he was forced to guard him (hence walkers point total). Obviously the team (especially Highes and Stiemsma) was in synch overall and won the game in spectacular fahion but I thought Flowers actually played one of his poorer OVERALL games of the season

Kaara - seriously if Flowers does not hit his 3 pointers, and same with Hughes UW loses. They won because their guards hit their shots and KSU's didn't. I don't care about any other stats - There is no other guard in the country that would even be trusted to guard Walker - If you remember he drew an offensive foul on Walker which was important too. If Flowers AND Hughes do not dominate KSU's guards UW loses.

Gotta go with Nation on this one. Walker's a tough row to hoe for anyone one-on-one, especially giving up 40 lbs to the guy. Granted, Flowers wasn't as lights-out on D like he usually is, but his game was money, overall.
The guards really came through in this one. I haven't been overly impressed with Hughes this year, but he really shined against KSU. Actually, that worries me a little. Hope he doesn't have a down game for the Sweet 16. He's been great one game and a non-factor the next so far. We'll really need him to step up against Davidson.

That's not exactly accurate. Say we had an off night on the threes and only made 4 of 22 instead of 9 - we still win by two points. Of course, the tempo would have been completely different, etc, but the fact remains that our defense would have carried us through even without a good offensive game.

Kaara,
Flowers gave up 4 inches and 70 pounds against Walker. Flowers did what he was asked. What you didn't mention was the fact that no other player scored more than 4 points, outside of Beasly and Walker. And Beasly on scored 6 in the second half.
In no way was Flowers ever going to shut down Walker. Flowers is a guard, not a post player. Be reasonable. His overall game was better than "one of his poorer OVERALL games". You know that is a lie. His shooting was lights out. If 3 for 3 beyond the arc is considered one of the poorer performances, I guess we just have to take it.

Flowers had 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
He was 5 for 6 shooting. 3 for 3 beyond the arc.
In a game where the Badgers were having a heck of a time rebounding, the only person to grab more was Stiemsma with 7.
Only 2 other games did he have more points, and one time with 15 points.
I can't say that was a poor performance against KSU.

There is no other guard in the country that would even be trusted to guard Walker LMFAO, do you even watch the games NAtion. Seriously. Flowers guarded Walker on RARE occasion, Krabbenhoft was the man guarding Walker the MAJORITY of the time. When krabbs was guarding him Wlaker was not AS effective. Krabbs guarded him much better than Flowers did. Also, I SAID that his SHOOTING was on, it was the other areas that he looked out of synch in. This is not a NORMAL problem for Flowers adn I do not expect it to continue, however sometiems shoting is not always on for Flowers and if we expect to keep advancing we DO need him to be solid in those other areas. It;s ridiculus for you to say you do not care about thsoe other areas as those are the areas this team thrives on collectively. You lack of bbal knowledge is just glaring today nation.

I can't say that was a poor performance against KSU.PackerBob, nation and others. I agree on WHY Flwoers was not able to defend Walker. I said it before the game was ever played and that is WHY he did NOT defend him the majoprity of the game, Krabbs did, however Walker did most of his damage when Flwoers wasd the one defending him. That said, in evaluating Flowers you guys seem to be conveniently leaving out his FIVE turnovers. The team had ten TO's in the game, Flowers was responsible for a full HALF of them. He also had two other "almost turnovers" in which KSU dislodged the balll from him but one went out of boudns and the other was miraculously recovered by us. Two of his TO's were him literally jsut throwing the ball away to no one, the others were him being out of control on the dribble and allowing KSU to just punch the ball away from behind. He was very careless with the ball in that game. What's the matter nation, are you "in love" with Flowers and incapable of an objective evaluation. It's great that Flowers three ball was on in his shooting, it made up for the other areas where he was lacking that day, I am glad about that, but don't kid yourself, we can't have Flowers turning the ball over 5 times in a game like that as we mocve forward.
