Go to the main Message Board and chime in on the Thread named: Stop Running Away Notre Dame!!! Notre Dame feels like it's beneath them to join the Big East and that we're not even close to being as good as them or worthy enough. We all know that's bull and at best they might finish 4th or 5th in The "Big Beast". Anyway go check it out and put your 2 cents in. Do it, Do it!!!
Poeple really underestimate the Big East. They play a much different style then most other conferences, primarily built on speed and athleticism. Notre Dame needs to join a conference, they take part in Big East football every other sport there already does. They would definitely struggle, especially after watching this past season. I'd match up any team from the Big East with anyone from any other conference and they would succeed, even with the SEC, and especially the overeted Big Ten. No teams in the Big East sucks and the two teams with losing records are still capable of winning. So yeah Notre Dame should join, they flop tremendously.
I am not so sure that Notre Dame would struggle in the Big East. They beat Pitt and Syracuse in 05. So struggle against BE teams they have not. And these two are back on the scheule for 08. Plus Rutgers( or U-Conn depending on what schedule you look at for the futrue few years). Notre Dame would do just fine inthe BE.
As far as the Big Ten being overated vs the BE lets see over the past 5 years:
Syracuse - 2007 L- Iowa and L Illinois, 2006 L Iowa W Illinois 2004- L Purdue
Pitt - 2007 L MSU, 2006 L MSU
U-Conn - 2006 W - Indiana, 2003 W - Indiana
Rutgers - 2006 - W Illinois, 2005 L Illinois, 2004 W MSU, 2003 L MSU
South Florida 2005 L Penn State
Cincy 2006 L Ohio State, 2005 L Penn State2004 L Ohio State
WVU 2003 L Wisconsin, 2002 L Wisconsin
Louisville Has not played a Big 10 team in past 5 years - (but the last time they came across a Big 10 team they also lost in 1997, 1996)
TOTAL BE is 5-14 to the Big 10 in the past 5 years
Yeah, but many of those games represent a top team from your conference playing a lesser team from the Big East, especially before 2005. If WVU or UofL would have played a number of Big Ten team the past several years it would be a very different story. But we all know top Big Ten teams don't like to play top teams in their out of conference schedule.
Hey guys... I'm a SEC fan (Kentucky) And We know that SEC is a conference taking the NCAA football program by STORM. BUT. I also have a team in the Big east that I grew up and was born and raised in. (Cincinnati) But I'm not here to gloat on the SEC or Cincinnati. I'm here to give da Big East some props. and I totally agree. The Big East is WAAY underrated and should be respected a little bit more. And about that Notre Dame incident, I also agree with the dude who said ("They'll probably finish being 4th or 5th in the Big east anyway") I don't know who died and made them football king, but they definetly SUCKED last year. And i don't think they should be complaining about WHAT conference they play in.
But we all know top Big Ten teams don't like to play top teams in their out of conference schedule.
You mean teams like Va Tech, Texas, USC, Nebraska, Miami Fl, Oregon all of which have been scheduled by Big 10 teams this decade. I do agree that there have not been very many Big 10 vs SEC match ups in OOC but I would have to say both conferences are probably to blame for that. Up and down the teams in the Big 10 plays Pac 10 followed by Big 12 in their OOC.
Notre Dames ability to schedule on a consistant basis the B3, Air Force, Navy and Army guaranteing (usually) three wins would go away should they play a BE schedule.

Bottom line is they're a bit CS (you figure it out). Oh, Foghorn Leghorn is the spokesman for the CS bunch.
