This entire thread cracks me up...particularly how uneducated some people are. The main claim I'm hearing as to why the Giants can't win the division is because they lost so much on defense. Well, let's look at what they lost. Gibril Wilson, a mediocre safety that is now the third highest paid safety in the game; Kawika Mitchel, a roll playing linebacker that can easily be replaced, and Reggie Torbor, a back-up linebacker who wouldn't have started next year anyway. People forget that Torbor was filling in for the injured started Mathias Kiwanuka who will be fully recovered from a broken leg next year as bones heal better than ligament tears.

So, the Giants lose 2 starters on defense and have the entire offense returning and all of a sudden they're going to regress and not make the playoffs? Give me a break. Gerris Wilkenson has been a starter in waiting and Mitchell was simply a stop-gap until Wilkenson was ready. In case you don't know who he is, he's the linebacker who ran stride for stride with Randy Moss in the week 17 game against the Patsies. Sammy Knight was signed to replace Gibril Wilson and their stats were almost identical last year. Not to mention Knight is a veteran player who won't make the mistakes that Wilson did and he'll serve as a good stop-gap ala K. Mitchel until we develop a young safety.  With that said, all of the losses on D have already been replaced, especially with teh signing of Danny Clark to create competition at linebacker. That means virtually the same defense and exactly the same offense as last year will be taking the field for the SUPER BOWL CHAMPION NY Giants and the draft hasn't even arrived.

So what's the reasoning again behind the Giants regression? Sorry, I just don't see it happening. The Giants will duke it out with the Cowboys for the division title and the loser of the division out of those two will be all but guaranteed a wild card spot in the weak NFC. I even see a possible three-peat with 3 NFC east teams in the playoffs next year. My pick for third in the division would go to the Eagles only because the Redskins are poorly run from the front office and hired a quarterback's coach to lead the team who hasn't even had a year of experience as a coordinator.

I know this is long winded, and I don't usually post, but I can't stand when people make uneducated predictions and comments on my beloved Giants. Besides, didn't everyone pick us to finish last in the division last year? Keep on hating while we keep on winning. May the best team take home the NFC east in 08-09...Go GMEN!!!

Dallas is one of my top 3 hated teams in the NFL, but I have to pick them.  They will have the best defense and offense this year.  Eli will take a step back, the draft wont help McNabb enough to win and he request to be traded by the end of the year and Redskins...poor Redskins.   They have a project at QB, aging RB, no receivers outside of Moss and Cooley(TE).  They lost Taylor which was one of the best safties in football and thier LB and DL are mediocre at best.  They also have needs at CB and OL.

Gibbs left at the wrong time.  Should have left last year or next year, but he left them in limbo this year.  You may want to dis one of the greatest coaches of ALL TIME because you think the game has passed him by or whatever your reasons are, but if you remember the Redskins before he came back, were even worse.  At least he gave them some sort of respectability that they hadnt had since he left(the first time).  He was slowly rebuilding them from Deon Sanders, Bruce Smith and other terrible signings and turned them into a team that could compete with a nice combo of not quite overpaid veterans and youth.  He had them competing when they should have just rolled over.

Snyder is what is wrong with pro sports today.  The goal of teams and fans should be winning.  The goals of owners are to make money and if the win great....if they dont....great because they pulled a profit.  Who cares if the fans are happy?  Not the owners...not the players...not the coaches....or NFL front offices.  Why do we give them our money again?  16 oz pepsi...$5.00 ....12 oz beer...$7.00... hot dog... $4.00.... ticket...$70.00....the chance to watch your fav suck...to the owners....priceless.

This is really difficult for me because I hate the Cowgirls, but I think they will win it simply because of how many good players they have coming back.

I think Philly will be 2nd because of McNabb being healthy again and returning to his pro-bowl form.

Giants in 3rd because of Plax and their D-Line.

I hate to put my Skins at the bottom (and hope I'm wrong!) but with another new (unproven) coach/scheme and some holes needing to be filled I am not optimistic for this year.

So it should work out well for the Eagles when Eli returns to being his interception machine self. You Giants fans crack me the hell up. Every Giants fan -- and I mean EVERY Giants fan -- was screaming for Eli's head mid-way through the season. Now, he's the next Joe Montana. I shouldn't be surprised. Typical New York arrogrance and ignorance.
Arrogance and ignorance? Are you freaking kidding me axe? No one is saying Eli is the next MOntana or Tom Brady, never, anywhere.

And i'm not surprised by your stupid comments just like the rest of the haters. Eli will return to being his interception machine. Love it. When any other player in any other city starts to come into his own, people talk about how great they are turning into. But when it is a NY player, well he'll just be back to the way he was before hand. Can't wait till Eli is stomping all over your Eagle behinds next year just like he has done the majority of his first 3 years.

Oh and you want arrogance and ignorance. Only Eagle fans(worst in football and all of sports by the way) think their team will all of a sudden be 2 games better than the 13-3 Cowboys who are going to be better. If the Eagles win 10 games next year they will be lucky. The cowboys should be the favorite to win the division because they won it this year and have everyone coming back, but winning the division doesn't mean squat when you have a team that can't win in the playoffs.

If the Giants can keep their team chemistry intact, on the surface it would seem as if they could make a run again.  But, chemistry relies on a number of factors so lets say that the Giants are at least a playoff favorite at 11-5.

Redskins are sunk for this year with Jim Zorn taking the reins and no real foundation built to protect Jason Campbell.  Figure 6-10 for the skins.

Eagles are a toss up, considering we dont know if they will be able to get a playmaker or 2 like Donovan is looking for.  If they do, they will be in the hunt..........if not don't count on it.  Figure 10-6 for the Birds.

Cowboys may have a tougher time than many think.  Reason...........Wade Phillips is a LOUSY head coach who was playing with a cupboard someone else filled.  My guess is that they struggle a little and Phillips loses his job, figure 9-7 as a little bit of a surprise.
