There is no real satisfaction in finishing second, or lower, for Tiger Woods - I'm sure.  But his recent run of victories and his 5th place finish this weekend got me thinking.  My review of the results shows an active streak of 12 consecutive Top 5 finishes for Tiger in his starts (including the match play and European starts).  Is this a record?

Byron Nelson has the 11 consecutive wins, but I can't find historical record of his book-end tournament finishes to see if he might still lead.

Also, the '06/'07 Tiger streak shows 9 consecutive Top 5 finishes so that one is out.

Any help is appreciated

In terms of official events (US and Euro), I count only 10 so far:

'07: WGC Bridgestone, PGA, Deutsche Bank, BMW, Tour Champ

'08: Buick Inv, Dubai, WGC Match Play, Bay Hill, WGC CA

On my recount, I'll give him 11.  I'm adding the Target World Championship event as well.  We'll see how he does as the Masters.

now, this is seriously funny

do you consider a tie the same value as an outright spot?

Golfpub,

What do you consider a tie?  You finish where you finish with the same amount of money going to each player!  They are posting scores, not crossing a finish line.  How else would you do it?
