I believe there is a likelyhood this game (TN vs Mem) could occur. God, that would make sports analysts arount the country eat crow. Go Tigers!! Go Vols!
I wouldn't mind seeing it, Jubal. I think it would then show that the polls at the end of the season were correct.
But if Memphis can't hit their free throws they won't get past Michigan State. In every game (but one) MSU has lost this year, it's been at the charity stripe. The free throws and point difference for each loss are UCLA 19-31 5 point loss, Iowa 16-29 7 point loss, Penn State 16-20 9 point loss, Purdue 11-14 6 point loss, Wisconsin (got stomped) not free throws, Ohio State 14-20 9 point loss, Wisconsin 26-37 2 point loss.
All but the first Wisconsin loss were due to State's propensity to foul. If Memphis can't make their shots, State will win. Also just a note, Michigan State has already beat Texas. State will be ready Friday so I hope that the Tigers aren't looking to far ahead. I'm looking forward to a great game, win or lose. Good Luck Tigers.
If Memphis had just a typically bad night from the like (60%) then they would have cruised by the Bulldogs. But to hit less than 50% is downright embarassing! it kept the Maroon-colored MSU in the game for too long. I'm sure it's going to take more than a 50% outing at the line to put away the Kelly Green-Colored MSU
The only way for the Tigers to get any respect is to beat the best teams left in the tournament. Therefore, I want the Tigers to matchup with Michigan State, Texas, UCLA and North Carolina. If they can make it through that gauntlet, they will be National Champs, bar none, and prove to the naysayers that Memphis is not another Gonzaga.
Ok Jubal, I gotta be honest with you. I would absolutely love to see the Tigers and Vols in the championship game with one provisal. The knowledge that Memphis wins the game. Just being honest there's probably not a team in the nation other than Lousville that it hurts more to lose to. Too much in the way of bragging rights especially with all the UT fans in Memphis. We'd never hear the end of it, I'd be too tempted to commit a crime and wind up in jail..... so I really don't know how to answer that one. But yes if we can win. Hey as long as we're just spit balling here I might as well have my way.
I would love to see a re-match.... I am a Memphis Alumni from middle Tennessee who bleeds orange, unless Tennessee is playing my Tigers. How's that for a paradox? Go TIGERS!!
couldnt agree more murder... if we beat UT in finals, they would say memphis beat a school with no experience in that type of game, or some crap like that.
