Sometimes I wonder what it takes to be a sports writer.  Dodd has shown me one thing, When stating an opinion out of your A$$, sell it and hopefully the majority of the readers might believe the bull crap.

Mr Dodd,  how about you buy some tickets to some Pac-10 games and watch them next year.  Or at least maybe turn on the TV when the games are on. You might actually see that some teams in the PAC-10 play a very good full court press and UCLA has seen it. You would think that a talented conference that sent 60% of its teams into the NCAA tournament and another 20% into the NIT might be competitive or innovative enough to use the press during the year against UCLA.  Not according to Mr. Dodd, who clearly seems to think he is an authority on the Pac-10, and his magical writing will give Xavier the key to the pearly phuckin gates of the phinal phour.

Perhaps if Mr. Dodd was paying attention, he could have seen Arizonia State crush Xavier by 20 points earlier this year.

How about this Dodd. One of UCLA's guards had a bad game and fouled out. I know it is not as great story, but at least it is closer to the truth.

dodd is an idiot.  He pretty much tried saying howland had no idea how to coach by calling those timeouts.  Please dodd when you have 3 consecutive elite 8 appearences (should be 3 final 4's soon) then you can talk about howlands coaching but until then I think you should start writing childrens books ages 3-5 it would suit you better.

who the hell cares how they did in the season you idiots? this is tourney time and your precious Bruins are choking and barely scraping by in their pathetically weak bracket and North Carolina (whom i hate by the way) are destroying the competition and yet seem to have the hardest bracket. There is no way you can defend your team for the way they have played thus far it has been brutal. The officials might be able to save your ass against Xavier but i doubt it, Xavier is to good but if you do manage to get by have fun getting destroyed by Memphis in the 06 Elite Eight rematch.

What is Dodd's problem didn't he pick UCLA to win the whole thing if I remember right? UCLA has not blown out any good competition this year really. They have a tendancy to play up or down to the competition wich is kind of disapointing for a team with this talent.

I wouldn't get too upset about it, guys - it's only a football writer's opinion. He doesn't watch the regular season because that his off-season. There's was a potentially interesting story here about UCLA "choking" but Dodd missed the right angle entirely.

What I found interesting was Kevin Love's quote (covered in the game report on the wire) that the second half performance was "unacceptable, unacceptable, unacceptable". When the star player has concerns like that, you could legitimately make a case for the Bruins underperforming, but Dodd has just made a series of allegations without really supporting them.

And as for the Bruins "choking" in the Elite Eight, two consecutive Final Fours say otherwise.

gracious calls and luck aside, the bruins are in trouble saturday against Xavier.  UCLA is going to need more than a double-double from Keefe to stay in the game on saturday.  Underachieving can only get you so far bruin fans!

Exactly right, this game was nothing more than a wake up call for UCLA, they are in good shape, they won!  They lost some intensity being up 21 and got in foul trouble yet still they were able to put away a good team.  Xavier is a good team too, they are on a mission to erase the mistakes they made last year.  Yet, I doubt they get past UCLA, just too much fire power.

Sorry guys this writer is getting a little too snide with some of his comments however, facts are facts. UCLA does not have to leave the state just like UNC, and plays in what has universally been identified as the easiest bracket, the 2 and 4 seed are already gone. In ddition UCLA has needed more than a little luck to get past some of their late season games. Fact of the matter is UCLA peaked during the season and are not playing at the same level as UNC and maybe louisville right now. Maybe its the inferior competition in yout bracket. By the way don't pull any of this team A beat team B and team B beat team C so team A would beat team C crap, we all know it dosen't work that way. Best of luck guys because playing the games is the only way to answer the questions of who can beat who, however unless Shipp gets his head out of his a** its going to be a bit harder for UCLA.
