I am neither a Tennessee fan or a Louisville fan, but I am a basketball fan and it is getting pathetic the amount of manipulation the refs had on this game. I for one am soooo tored of refs managing the pace of a game and this one was worse than most. Someone needs to tell the out-of-shape stripes that nobody pays a ticket price to watch them control and slow a game to a near stop! HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't agree more! And the inconsistency is maddening. These guys need to let the players play and get the heck out of the way!

In case you were wondering how many fouls were called in this game, it was 47. 22 on Louisville and 25 on the Vols. I am a Volunteer fan and I was kinda scared about playing Louisville. They are a great team and they played better then us tonight, but nobody wanted to see two very athletic teams walking up and down the floor shooting free-throws! The game would've been much closer had the two teams actually been able to play, but slowing the game down gave the clear advantage to Louisville and their size.

YES!!! Someone watched the same game I did.

Tenn got dominated by the officiating tonight, and how did you like the little Patino-to-Ref pep talks he seemed to have about 15 times during the game. It was almost as though they were part of his coaching staff for christ's sake.

I'm currently trying to find a good source as to where the Coaches Challenge might sit in NCAA basketball, and where the best place to restart the argument might be. If anyone knows one, tonights game has got to be one of the largest examples for it's need in months,

YOU DON'T LOSE BY 19 AND THEN BLAME IT ON THE REFS. TENNESSEE GOT KILLED ON THE GLASS AND SMOTHERED BY LOUISVILLE'S DEFENSE THAT IS WHY THEY LOST, NOT THE REFS.

Ummm, yea you definately can lose by 19 and blame it on the refs.... lol. Considering the margins of both victories and loses for Tennessee rarely even hit 5 much less going into double figures. When you have 47 fouls called in 40 minutes of ball, you do the math... With more than 1 foul per minute neither team was able to get any consistency. So the game definately came down to defense, i'll give you that... because again as simple math supports there was rarely a single 60 second period of play that wasn't interupted by officiating on average. Tennessee is very much a transition based offense, they use screens like most teams can only imagine (as made obvious by the 12 or so basic 'last second 2 or 3 pointers' made by Lofton throughout both the regular and post season.

I'd suggest you stick to being a baseball fan if you don't think they officials had as dominating a role in this game as the other people involved in this post obviously do.

This is rediculous. How are Tennessee fans going to blame the refs when 22 fouls were called on Louisville? How are you going to blame them for a 19 point loss? Why not blame Lofton for chucking up so many crappy shots? Why not blame the UT bench for getting outclassed and showing no depth? How about blaming Bruce Pearl for waiting until now to change out his point gaurd?

Yes, the refs made bad call...both ways. Sorry, UT got outclassed. Just admit it and move on.

You must have been watching the Xavier/WVa game. I saw some bad calls in this game but never did I see "slow" or "stopped" play. I was tired just watching in from my recliner. Both teams were going ful speed for 3/4 of the game. Tennessee only slowed when the outcome was evident.

This was a good game between two good teams. I saw some calls that shouldn't have been called and others that should have both ways. The two teams played incredibly physical defense where every possession looked like a mugging. Since the NCAA allows the players to get away with this you can't blame it on the teams but there were numerous calls on drives to the basket where refs seemed to feel like they were obligated to blow the whistle even though there was no contact.

Overall it just seemed like Louisville had the stronger better athletes as was shown in there domination of the boards and how easily they drove by the Tennessee defense.

To no ones surprise, UT couldn't possibly lose this game to a better team. I'm shocked that the same Tennessee fans who bad-mouthed UL's offense after they lost at Georgetown and claimed UL would have no chance against UT because they could only score in the fifties would blame the referees for their loss. Tennessee fans seemed so knowledgeable about offense (check out the scores from the outstanding UK games), so unbiased when assessing their team's performances(they were #1 for about 24 hours before that powerhouse Vanderbilt and the refs, again!, stole their thunder, and so gracious in defeat (never lost a game this year because they were just beaten, always some bigger plot to hold them back.) I think Oliver Stone must be writing all their posts. Go Cards!!!!
