Its a shame the media falls in love with a player and does anything to make its point.  There is no way Tyler should have been player of the game last night.  All his points and boards were in the second half after the heels made their big run at the end of the first half to put the game out of reach.  He was ineffective and shut down when the game was close.  Danny Green was clearly the reason Carolina won the game, if not him Ty Lawson would be the second choice.  I know Hansborough hussles and plays hard but he sucked when it counted last night.

Good point. I think there's something about the hype around a player that contributes to player of the game.  Tyler has generated that hype and reputation for himself by showing up at every game.

So one way to think about this is that he got it because of his overall desire to show up for every game and play every minute and every possession.

Was he the most valuable player last night?

I'd agree with you that Danny Green was the catalyst last night.

Hopefully that means that it won't be the last time that Danny boy contributes a game changing performance.  I've been watching him since freshman year and man he is great.

Understand though that it was thier D trying to double and Triple Tyler that opened up the other guys like Green and Lawson to hit nice shots.  And, then in the second half when they start spreading the D because them guys were hitting thier shots he was able to start making baskets.  That is why he got it, because of his presence....Think about it seriously could have Green hit them shots with a hand in his face?  Granite they do still have to make the shot, but it's Tyler's presence that opened them up!!

Agreed, the reason that Tyler is one of the best college players I have ever seen is the enormous upside he has in the intangibles.  He may have been under the radar a little bit last night but that was because of the amount of attention that he draws from the defense.  He was able to tie up the whole lane and open things up on the perimeter last night which helped our guards.  He also showed up big time on the defensive end.
If the refs would start calling fouls again Tyler would have been looking at another double-double performance.
It is ridiculous how often fouls go uncalled on Tyler.  I mean look at the first play of the game last night.  It was a perfect example of what i am talking about.  Tyler got himself in position for the rebound and got fouled by two out of the three WSU players that were immediately on him.  The refs called a jump ball which was a joke.  Neither ref had an angle to see the ball and Tyler had a guy hanging on each arm, it's classic.
Hansborough's success this year seems to be coming back to haunt him as the officials seem to have had a discussion about leveling the playing field by changing the way they call fouls when Tyler is involved.  Jay Bilas talked about the bad no calls on 3 or 4 occasions last night and those were only for the egregious incidents.

Either way Tyler did lead the team in Points and Rebounds last night.

yeea i would not have had him the player of the game, but as hhhbs1 said, he led both teams in points and rebounds, got to the line 10 times, drew a few charges, and took over the game early in the 2nd half to put it out of reach/
