Why are these nationally syndicated sportswriters so terrible at their job? All together now children, THE Chargers DO NOT NEED A LINEBACKER OR WIDE RECEIVER! See there's this crazy thing called commons sense and doing your research, apparently these are unknown concepts to Prisco. Hey Pete why do we not have a 2nd round pick this year, oh yeah cuz we traded it away for Chris Chambers. That's a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder spent on the receiver position in consecutive years, and that's not even counting Vincent Jackson who was a beast in the postseason, plus Eric Parker is coming back from injury, plus we used a 5th rounder on nanee last year too.

And LINEBACKER! You've got to be joking me, the only question about linebacker is who is going to get cut, we currently have 6, that's right 6 middle linebackers. So these idiots in the national media can stop trying to say that's a position of need for us just because they've never heard of our starters, cooper led the team in tackles last year with 106 and wilhelm had 96 even though he missed a month. The only question is will Anthony Waters be healthy enough to supplant wilhelm, that's why we kept Waters on the active roster last year, b/c he's a 1st round talent that just needs time to heal and develop, just like cromartie did. Same thing with Paul Oliver.

I agree completely.

It was not really hard to do but you just documented exactly why Prisco will never be a player personel guy at any level.  Pete should hold on to his job as long as possible because as a writer he is already way over his head.  I have no idea how he got hired by CBSSportsline.

I don't like the Chargers in the least but you guys are right.  Your linebackers are solid and somehow you make that recieving core work.  You guys don't have any real glaring needs IMO.  Maybe just add depth to that team of yours.  I think you have the west again this year but depending on the drafts over the next two years the Broncos or Raiders(doubtful) could be pressing you guys.  Good luck this year except when playing my broncos.

I hate to admit it but you're right on the money with the Chargers. I am a local San Diegan but am a loyal Raiders fan.

The Chargers are deep in Linebackers and the ILB are especially deep especially with the signing of free agent ILB Derek Smith (formerly of the 49ers). I do believe that the Dolts have by far the deepest linebacking corps in the league with the starters (Merriman, Phillips, Cooper, and Wilhem) and their 2nd string backups who can easily start on most teams (Marques Harris, Jyles Tucker, Derek Smith, and Brandon Siler/Anthony Waters/Tim Dobbins).

I'm not sure what kind of effort Prisco puts into his analysis of team needs, maybe thats why he is so hated on these forums.

Anyhow... GO RAIDERS!

Yeah...  I must admit...  You are definitely RIGHT ON about our teams needs.  Not much that I can see...  Just some depth players and that is about it.  Maybe cbssportsline should fire Prisco and hire you?  You have my vote!!!   Anyway...  GO Chargers!!!

Being a Chiefs it's really hard for me to say that we already know that the Chargers will win the West but I  believe Phillip Rivers  is probaly going to have a down year but with all the other talent they will get into the playoffs and i damn well know the Chiefs won't so when the playoffs start i will always go with the AFC West team to win it all goodluck Chargers and trust me you are a much better team without Marty he always chokes in the playoffs ask Cleveland Kansas City and yourself he can't win the big ones.

linebacker and receiver are probably the 2 areas that they can't even fit more players on the roster. If Eric Parker is back healthy next season (which all reports are that he will be), they may not even have room for Malcolm Floyd. Seriously, you have Chambers, Jackson, Buster, Parker, Naanee, Floyd, Osgood...   how many receivers does he think we can suit up?
