I was on this lal of last year and what a pathetic way to start the year...it is us Giant fans that want to see the young guys play and instead we get Bochy putting together maybe the worst lineup in baseball history!
I am not going to one Giant game this year!!!!
Bochy has got to go with Sabean..what the f on this lineup..they finally get a couple of hits in one inning to watch Durham strike out on three pitches and Castillo to fly put..it is ridiculous to have Velez, Ortmeier, Lewis or Rajai on the bench...why not pinch hit for now the worst Giant in uniform in Jose Castillo..Aurillia is got to go as well...Giants F'n Suck!

I dont blame you there Giantsdiehard. These guys suck big time. I was gonna try and go to at least one game this year but after seeing preseason and this game......I dont think so bub. I agree though that the young guys need to be on the field instead of the regulars late in the game and get them something.

Luckily I was at work for the whole ordeal. This offense is really bad. Like I said in another thread, I have a couple of class A teams that I can go see and still enjoy myself at a fraction of the cost. Fire Boch and Sab and get somebody in here with some balls that will at least try to put an exciting lineup out on the feild.

This awful ownership and management group picked the wrong manager. Brenly was the guy, a guy that bleads the orange and black and he won a world series as a manager.
Brenly was blown off and instead they hired a conventional manager that did not know how to manage last year's team and is not showing signs he is going to manage differently.
It is like all of the coaches the Warriors had before bringing Nelson back. Each of them thought they had to prove they could win, so they relied on playing veterans rather than developing the younger talent to win long term. Look what Nelson has done, isnerted Biedrins and Monte and really Azubuike and game them a shot to prove themselves. Nelson also helped to dump Dunleavy and Murphy who did not fit the system.
So what does Bochy do, play the older guys trying to win last year and this instead of lettign all of the youth we have stand on their own. Jose Castillo being our starting third baseman is a frickin crime..no General Manager or Manager with any respect or brains would have let this happen.

What do you expect Bochy to do? You probably have the worst offense in all of baseball and one of the best rotations. He could start the younger guys but they are not much better. Raja Davis and Fred Lewis are alright but they're not better than Roberts, Rowand, or Winn yet. As much as I love seeing Giants fans cry about how worthless they're manager is its not his fault. Blame it on Sabean for signing all the old fogies. Would you be happy if Baroid was back?

Honestly, I agree this mess isn't Bochy's fault. If I had this team and I was trying to win, I'd be putting my experienced veterans on the field and trying to work in the younger guys as I could. Team owenership kept their eyes fixed to the short term goals of winning with Bonds about five years too long and failed to begin preparing for the day his monster offensive production wasn't in the line-up. That day is now and the Giants are caught with their pants down and zero options available unless they plan to deal Linsecum or Cain (good luck).
My personal feeling is that the seeds of the Giants downturn were sowed when they didn't re-sign Kent and started bringing in players well past their prime like Viszquel and Durham instead of focusing on longer term players. This was further magnified when they also began dumping the best youngsters they had for lousy one year players (Nathan and Liriano for Pierzinksy; Sidney Posnon anyone?) So I put the blame squarely on team ownership/management. I think Sabaen had pulled off some good deals in the past, but of late, his effectiveness in constructing a winning ball club has waned considerably.
I also do not like the way that team ownership handled the whole "Bear with us fans, We're bringing Barry back because he's going to break the HR record. We know he's accused of cheating and lying, but we have seats to fill" and "We're done with Barry. Don't let the door hit you in the a**" situation. It showed a bit of a lack of class and seemed to put profits first and fans and morals second.

The only older guys that should be in the lineup are Vizquel (when he's healthy), Molina, Rowand, and Winn. Maybe we can trade Vizquel, Molina, and Winn by July if they're playing well.
I wish they'd hired Brenly instead of Bochy, but I was willing to cut Bochy some slack last year. Now I'm just pissed off at him and he definitely needs to go if he doesn't start playing the young guys.

Of course management is repsonsible for putting the product on the field, but did management have Durham in the game in the bottom of the 9th last night to blow a ground ball for a third out and lose the game???
That is Bochy my friends...who has Rich Aurilia batting second for two games in a row???
My argument is that we are going to lose anyway, let's see the young guys play. Velez is now 2 for 2 in pinch hits, why is he not starting? Is that a management decision?
I watched the Giants all year last year, and Bochy made critical mistake after critical mistake in managing the team...this team did blow it by not keeping Kent and that kharma has contiinued to plague us...

I agree with you here, I wasn't and still am not a Bochy fan, but i believe his hands are tied together with the talent (lack of?) on this ballclub (lineup - wise, the pitching staff speaks for itself).
Also, I would also agree that the youngsters need to play -- the Giants are going nowhere (hah - big news there) fast and the team needs to see what these players can do 9or can't do).
I do go to at least 25 -35 games every year, and will again this season. I just can't imagine a worse lineup than I've seen in these first 2 games of the season. Oh well, it's our turn to smell up the NL West, every other team in the division has had their turn doing it.
